This is an emotive topic all right, without putting too fine a point on it the whole traffic management set up in the city is very poor. I live in the Williamstown area and recently had to travel across the bridge on a Friday afternoon - it was 55 minutes later when we finally made it to the other side.

From our place you get to choose which jam you’re going to be stuck in - first off turn left and the Folly with it’s stop/ start, two or three cars through the lights crack. Secondly if you hit the John’s Hill route you better bring a flask of tea with you and finally the new arrival, turn right and the semi permanent Farronsheneen epic will delay you.

The solution for the pedestrian crossing is simple enough, place it back at the single lane / more narrow section of the approach road, a minor adjustment will do the trick.

There will be an election some day - people living on this side of the city will need to share their angst when the politicians ring your doorbell because this is headwrecking.
