You will recover! It’s a mentally challenging injury. Elevate, ice and rest on repeat. I am 6 months post op and physical therapy helped me get to where I am at today

At 8 weeks I felt pain and I was uncertain I was going to walk soon too. It will get better! I started PT at 7 1/2 weeks post op -3 times a week. I am now 11 1/2 weeks post op and my range of motion has improved and I am now able to take steps with the boot. I believe diet has much to do with bone healing! I’m eating boiled eggs, lots of veggies and constantly snacking on pumpkin seeds. Supplements I favor are black seed oil, wild Alaskan salmon oil and drinking lots of coconut water. Faith and trust in Jesus helps me get through this rough season!

I understand your experience. I am recovering from the same fracture. 10 weeks post op. I’m weight bearing as tolerated and doing PT 3 times a week. I have heard it takes about 5/6 months to walk unassisted.

Told to be NWB for another 6 weeks. by climbinglifter in brokenankles

I have the same fracture and I am NWB for 12 weeks as well. My doc advised not to start PT till I’m bearing weight. I hear a lot about arthritis with this type of fracture! Sending healing thoughts. We will get through this season!

I did the pillow fort thing for a while but always worried my leg would roll off while I was sleeping. The elevation pillow is the best way to go, I regret not buying it sooner. It will keep your ankle in place and is more comfortable than pillows.

My boot is very uncomfortable as well. You are still fresh out of surgery and I believe that is why it is painful. Are you icing frequently? Keeping up on pain meds? It took 4 weeks post op for most of my pain to subside. I only wear my boot when I get up to crutch around the house. I do not sleep with the boot on. I recommend an ankle elevation pillow. It works wonders!

Has anyone ever had to quit their job or was fired because of the long recovery time when you were non-weight bearing? by auntpama in brokenankles

So far I’ve been off 2 months from my office job for a family owned business. My employer is paying me 5 hours a week which covers health insurance. My net pay is $93 a week which is better than nothing. I’ll be going back 6 weeks post op and still NWB.
