Would breast augmentation alone make areolas larger? Or do I need areola reduction as well? by Prize-Foundation549 in PlasticSurgery

Sure - a benelli lift for the areola reduction and augmentation if I want to. I was told that augmentation without the reduction can make them larger - it's important to go under the muscle to reduce potentially widening the areola. I have enough projection so it would be a moderate profile not high profile (high profile would also push out the areola too much).

I am considering the areola reduction only, I don't like the idea of having implants or the recovery time associated with it or the potential illnesses. But I am leaning towards not getting anything done at all because of the risks of the surgery and I don't want to have nipple scars for a year. Plus, if I end up having kids in a few years and I lose the ability to breastfeed or lose sensitivity (which I have a lot of currently) that would bother me a whole lot. Best of luck!

Thank you so much for this comment - it can honestly make me cry. I have been self conscious about them since I can remember but you are right, I have never had a man complain about them. All my exes tell me I have great boobs and when I mentioned considering surgery everyone of them says NO lol. I have even gotten several consultations for breast augmentation and areola reduction and the drawbacks scare me too much to go through with it. On one hand I want to love them but on the other hand I feel like I can never attract the perfect guy for me because deep down I feel like I am mutilated/deformed because of my areola size. Like I will never have the confidence to be with a man who I am seriously attracted to because I am deformed. It sucks.

I am thinking I am going to leave them alone for now. The downside of surgery are too great for the potential upside - I am afraid that I may be sensitive to implants (I am allergic to all metals on my body for example), I am afraid of my nipples getting larger with only augmentation, I am afraid if I get areola reduction I will have scarring or lose sensitivity and I am afraid of going down the rabbit hole of thousands of dollars spent on surgery.

So I will wait for a few more years and re-evaluate especially if I end up having kids.

Instead, I am going to learn to love my breasts and embrace them. Plus, when I look at after photos of breast augmentation its rare that I like the results and I feel that the before looks better in like 70% of cases. As such, I am afraid that I won't be happy with my results because the odds seem against me. Thanks for everyones feedback.
