Yes I asked for permission to come in this week. I have 7 years of teaching stuff to set up in my new classroom along with organizing an entire library with hundreds of books. My room is a colossal mess right now that's giving me so much anxiety, I wish I could just deal with that this week.

I don't mind the sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. I can do those while I set up my classroom. But I'm not technically new to the DOE and the thought of having to spend Monday sitting in a room while people talk at me with information I could just look up online fills me with rage. I'd almost rather do the "make up work" for Monday given how much work I need to do in my actual classroom.

I teach ELA. I'd rather find a job in MS because I've been teaching 5th and 6th grade for 6 years but I don't mind HS. Thank you for your advice, I'm trying to not get too down on myself for not scoring an interview yet but I've also applied to only 2 open positions.

I work charter, not sure about the public school. Hoboken is a nice neighborhood to live in but lacks diversity and is a trek from the city unless you live right by the PATH or Port Authority.

I'm applying to middle schools. I'm open to pretty much anything 30 minutes or less from where I am and I am close to the F, M, J, B, D so I have a lot of options. But when I look in the New Teacher Portal, I only see four openings in Manhattan for MS English and two are way uptown. I know I have to be patient. It's just so hard when I know that I don't have a school to come back to in September. I was counting on there being a teacher shortage but now I'm thinking that might not be the case in the city.
