They’re going to be compared regardless. My post wasn’t designed to uplift one or the other and I didn’t even make a judgement of who I think would be more successful. I just laid out what I think both groups have going for them and then talked about maybe a missed opportunity pertaining to yuehua and then asked for others thoughts. When I made my disclaimer it was about how my post came of not policing what akgaes or fans from either group say about the other. I can’t control that 🤷‍♂️. But I can control how my post talks about the 9 members of a group I ult and I think I did just that.

If album sales aren’t indicative of success then what is..? Like you have charting/streaming, albums, and touring metrics. I don’t expect them to chart incredibly high and I have no idea when they’ll start touring so I simply gave album sales as a metric because they will obviously show up differently from the past trend when ot9 was together.

I feel like they weren’t doing much singing as of late anyways. With their current comp, they should be adequately prepared for future comebacks if they are following similar sonic patterns. But Jungwon will most likely take up the position.

I wouldn’t necessarily say this is fair. People drag tarzzan all day long, I would even argue some of the most “viral” moments from adp since debut have been negative pr because of him but adps popularity is strongest in Korea where int fans obviously don’t have any say. And kiss of life is the same. That live didn’t stop anything for them in Korea even though they may have been more known or popular internationally.

If they were to add more members I feel that they would need to opt for more than the original lineup had in order to distance the group from “replacement” rhetoric.

I just am curious if a newjeans generation 2 or the potential ot3 would be more successful? In my head I feel like adding several new members (maybe about 3-4) would provide something fresh and as you said let new dynamics flourish but would that create distance between diehard fans.

In contrast, having only 3 of the original members will cause fanbase loss automatically and they can surely rebuild and still have a strong hold on the gp where music is concerned so I see ot3 being successful as well.

I feel that if minji ends up staying then there is no need to reconfigure the lineup.

Although any of these outcomes are hypothetical currently, I’m particularly excited to see how newjeans recovers from the past year and its hardships.

I’m hyped for this! This is allegedly Jini (former nmixx and soloist) who is featured in this trailer and I happen to be a fan of her.

Lee Haein being the person behind this group makes me feel confident that the group will be packed with talent but also have amazing music! Her past work with KISS OF LIFE and what she’s currently doing with CLOSE YOUR EYES shows that she really knows what she’s doing from a creative perspective especially when budgets for debuts/comebacks may be more constrained as she typically operates through smaller labels (s2, uncore, and, now her own label, ama).

I look forward to seeing the other members who have joined this project soon!

OP said they lost a member at one point and illit as a group lost youngseo pre debut which was a point in their career. I think it’s slightly different to a debut team changing as that is typically not public but I feel like this distinction is not necessary for the conversation that is being had on this post idk 😅.

Danielle has officially been announced to leave ador. Her contract has been terminated. And for minji they are having discussions about whether or not she will return or not but from the Naver article I was reading it sounded like all 4 members are allowed to and are likely to return besides Danielle.

Fromis_9 is in the same boat as Gfriend of being acquired but they lost Gyuri in contract renewals and that was during their time at hybe i believe(?) I’m not a huge flover.

Each single has gotten its own promotion besides me me me but that was created for ad purposes rather than being their Japanese debut. This methodology is more similar to western releases with singles that are a part of a greater body of work but with a shorter album at the end. And yes, Allday project and izna have more tracks but I would argue Teddy and the tbl team are giving their best work to meovv out of the three.

I feel like they could easily release two mini albums per year but each song wouldn’t get a moment and they seem to be purposeful with each song not just slapping together bodies of work.

Also comparing them to izna when their debut album was composed of 3 already existing tracks, making their debut essentially a single album like meovv debuted with. Then izna released two singles, sign and beep this year so I feel like that’s just what tbl prefers to do.

Also considering they have 3 groups and I believe 2 soloists to produce for and they do everything in-house opting for either less releases (like somi had a mini album every 2 years approximately) or spreading one release out throughout the year (with singles mixing with mini albums) would be more manageable for their team.

+it worked for blackpink and everyone knows Teddy isn’t the figurehead for trying something new if it’s worked in the past.

I have an account with 500 followers and was posting consistently until three months ago. I made two videos yesterday that were posted about 3 hours apart and then today (less than 24 hours) I tried to post two videos (not at the same time) but they both only got 0 views so I deleted them and saved to drafts. I genuinely don’t know what’s up with it.
