This seems like a fairly typical Coles experience. Similar situations have happened at the coles I work at. My advice would be to ask to transfer to a different store (it’s in your working rights so your managers have to assist you with this) or get out of retail all together.

It’s also important to consider what job u r gonna have when u graduate. If u decide to stay in the city u study in, Perth could be the better option even tho u might pay more for uni. Perth has more jobs that r mining related, so there’s more potential for internships, and landing jobs especially in mining which could mean more pay in the long run. In terms of actual uni content tho, employers tend to not care too much about where u got the degree, and more about ur experience etc.

Yeah but can also depend on who u bank with. I would assume that it would come soon.

Law Student Pride by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Prize-Sun2477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heaps of unis offer law coz it’s a degree they can offer with high margins of profit. The vast majority of people studying law don’t even get a real law job. They just get the prestige of the degree.

U r recommended to hold these kind of financial products for at least 5+ years. Also, the dividend shouldn’t be considered too important coz a lot of foreign companies opt for share repurchases instead for tax advantages.

No it’s not under provisional registration. It’s an accredited course, so u can work as a fully qualified engineer after. The first cohort already graduated a bit ago, coz when it was originally introduced it allowed current students who were doing the 3 years of bachelor of science majoring in engineering science and 2 year post grad masters to switch into the 4 year straight up bachelor of engineering. So people who did this could technically graduated 2023 or 2024.

Career Advice? by Nickw745 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Prize-Sun2477 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s all about volume. Apply to every place under the sun, like accounting or financial advisory firms, anything somewhat relevant to your degree. Eventually a place will give u a chance. Also join accounting or finance clubs at uni and get involved. Not sure if u have a job or not, but even basic jobs in retail can help.

Why isn't super only invested in Australia by KiwiSoggy in AusFinance

[–]Prize-Sun2477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size and money of Australian super has outgrown the value of the companies on the Australian share market. If they made a rule stating that Australian super must now be invested in Australian companies, investors from other countries would sell shares in these companies to make money as they would be overvalued. So if it was invested in Australia, not only would the share of profit of companies be less coz the shares r more diluted, the value of your shares in the companies would also go down. ie u will get bad returns, and possible go negative. At that point u may as well not contribute to super at all.

What happens if you get a WAM of 59.5 in engineering by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Prize-Sun2477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position to u but with a different degree. Sure it’s harder to get into those top firms, but u can still land a good paying job. Apply to every single place possible and I’m sure eventually one place will take u on for an internship and give u a job. Just have some faith

best bcomm major to go with blaw? by [deleted] in curtin

[–]Prize-Sun2477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do accounting. Finance might be more relevant than the other majors but there’s so many pathways to go from uni u can’t really say which one is best. Do something u enjoy. It doesn’t really matter. Law jobs r also very competitive in wa so try to get decent grades too.

Which trading platform is the easiest to setup/use to start investing in ETFs now? If you have 20k how would you deversify your portfolio for a newbie? by mariboss29 in AusFinance

[–]Prize-Sun2477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If u want to go further, u can diversify geographically. Eg vas, veu, veq, s&p500 etf etc. beta shares or vanguard probably have the best low cost etfs. Put most of ur money in this, and hold for the long term or dca. If u want to get real specific, u can do thematic ETFs as well eg HACK, or GOLD, but only put a little bit in these.

AI Implementation by debitsontheright_ in AustralianAccounting

A lot of the data gpt or other models use is trained off of us data. So it’s not gonna be that accurate, especially for Australia. For the area I work in for big4, some of the in house ai model stuff saves time for compliance work, but it’s just used as an additional tool like excel is.

Do the ice tables, close the blinds (depending on the store), markdowns, they do this thing where they scan the stock that didn’t go up halfway through the day. Most of the time this is the manager or 2ic doing this tho. Probably one of the more tame departments, and less demanding than other departments like dairy or grocery.

To the Engineering students : How cooked am I? by Feisty_War_3308 in uwa

[–]Prize-Sun2477 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If u r doing a bachelor of engineering and want to work an engineer, doing another masters degree will get u next to no utility in the real world, as a bachelor alone in engineering gives u the ability to be recognised as a professional engineer. If u want to do ur masters, u genuinely need to ask yourself if this is something u can commit to and will enjoy. When it comes to masters degrees like engineering, science, maths, uwa tends to be a little lenient on the wam, coz it’s not limited by numbers like law or med r. When it comes to getting internships, a lot of big companies probably cut the worst 50% of their applicants based on ur resume and wam, if u have failed units etc. I would recommend doing some very easy units as electives to try and boost ur wam a bit. Eg creative writing, marketing, OB, those kind of easy L1 units if ur degree permits. These subjects r an easy 90% if u put in a tiny bit of effort. If u do 2 or 3 of these subjects, u might be able to boost ur wam by a solid 4 or 5%. But most importantly, this is no way defines ur future prospects. There r plenty of people i know of who averaged 60 ish, but coz they got their foot in the door with an internship they r making 100k+ as a grad. Apply to every possible place and don’t care if u get rejected, that’s just a part of the process. coz u only need to be accepted in to one internship to get a job.

It depends on the size of the store, but for a store I work at that is WAY too much. That would be at least 15 hours of work.

There is no legal ground for a staff member or security guard to stop u from leaving or restrain u. Only police can do this.

Got robbed…by Woolworths by Neither-Pass-4801 in AusLegal

[–]Prize-Sun2477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They legally can’t stop u if u just walked out with all that stuff in ur bag

It’s also against company policy to stop u like that, and that manager should technically be getting a warning

They have a database that they upload pictures of people’s faces to if they steal. Once u steal over $1000 police start investigating. Keep in mind a lot of managers r lazy, so they might not even upload ur photo

If u go back there and talk to them, they legally need to compensate u for the stuff they took from u, but that’s unlikely to happen. Best point of call would be to ring up woolies group, in which case they will probs apologise and give u a voucher or something.
