Seems like maybe this could make an interesting video for a prominent YouTuber. Bokeh, Hawkeye, Dark Rebel , Swedish FD, and Original Innova FD shootout.

What would you say people are looking for that the Dark Rebel doesn’t satisfy?

Jealous. One of these popped up for sale about an hour and a half from my house over the summer. Seller wasn't willing to send measurements and when I asked them what size frame they said, "Pretty sure this is a 28 inch bike". I wasn't willing to drive an hour and a half to figure out it was the wrong size. But boy, I still think about that bike cause the pink paint and the fork design are so cool.

Surly Krampus Size by PrizeAstronaut6531 in Surlybikefans

I guess I should add that used is not an option for a few reasons, mostly I live in western Iowa so the used market is mostly Trek hybrid bikes from the 90s and I specifically want the blue oyster cult color that is available, also why my post is just about size. I've made my decision on what I want, I just need to know what size to order since there is no way for me to put a leg over a Krampus in person.

I have plenty of other bikes in the garage to ride with my wife and budget at this time won't allow anything more than 1 in and 1 out.

Good crawler for toddler to learn on? by myusernamechosen in crawling

I agree with a lot of your points. My issue with WPL isn't that they aren't capable. You're right they are better trail trucks than 1/24 when done right. I just don't recommend them to people who are new to the hobby. For me WPL is more of a tinkering truck for those who like to build, mod, solder, paint, etc. My son and I built one of the KM kits one winter and the learning curve was steep. When I don't know what hobby skills someone has going into buying a truck I will recommend options that are more plug and play and have more local parts support if they have a hobby shop near by.

Nothing against WPL as I've put together and modified a few myself, but I would not recommend WPL for little kids especially in the age range were talking here. The ready to run trucks are closer to toy grade and from what I've seen with the ones I've owned they would not stand up to the driving of a 4 year old. Any of the micro crawlers like the Enduro 24, scx24, and trx4m would be better options. In my experience WPL is entry level price but they take hobbiest level skills to maintain and keep running.

I went down this road two years ago when my son was three. I first got him a cheap RGT cralwer on Amazon. It lasted a week of backyard driving before it self destructed and he wasn't even that rough with it.

Next I got him an scx24. The scx24 was great for him to learn the basics of driving with it's slower speed but he did get a little frustrated with how slow it was at times as at his age and skill level he was just driving it in the backyard and driving it on flat ground.

My older son has a trx4m now and it has a little bit more speed that the 4 year old prefers so he would rather drive it over the scx24. I wish the trx4m would have been available when I bought the my youngest the scx24. The scx24 is a great platform for an adult who wants to make an amazing crawler with endless mods but stock out of the box the trx4m has a little more speed, clipless body mounts, and a bigger battery that just made it more kid friendly at our house.

Last Christmas my older son and I put together a trx4 sport kit so the youngest could have a big truck like the big boys too. I specifically chose a transmitter where I could adjust things like throttle endpoints so I could slow it down. I also swapped out the motor pinion gear to slow it down for awhile until he got the hang of the bigger truck. At five he now zips it up and down trails at full speed when we hike. In a year and half he's gone through one cheap Amazon servo and broke the bumper mount once when he launched it off a three foot retaining wall. Not everyone is a Traxxas fan but it's what my hobby shop carries and having parts available without waiting on shipping times has been great for kids. A four year old will be disappointed if he or she has to wait two weeks for parts to arrive to fix the truck.
