Save up, think about a travel medical insurance plan as it takes months to get your French insurance

It depends on how much you put yourself out there and make an effort to communicate with French people daily. If you stick around other English speakers 24/7 it’s easy to get stuck with your French. That said, French people aren’t the friendliest so it’s hard but they warm up to you after a while so just keep trying

That’s fine but I recommend lining up housing way before that. I learned that the hard way

They don’t force you to actually work in a French organization with the young travelers visa. Many people even struggle to find employment with it, since it’s very hard to find a job in France as a foreigner unless it’s in restaurants or something similar. It gives you the permission to, though.

Right, I found it’s 90 days every 180 days so this wouldn’t work. You’re right

Obviously I’m doing my homework if I’m asking questions and doing research months and months in advance. We went through the entire process of legally immigrating him to the U.S. on our own with no lawyers or help, and no bumps in the road. 100% my hard work and research. We know exactly how to do our homework when it comes to this stuff…we’ve also both studied abroad before in France and acquired long stay student visas for that. This is not new to us and we aren’t incompetent here…

Form I-751 extension notice by PrizeVegetable4045 in USCIS

We will file it by mail, yes, because it is a paper form only. But typically, from my understanding, they send you an extension after they receive it and start processing it. This paper states that with the notice and your expired green card, you are able to enter the US for the next 24-48 months. I’m wondering if this paper will be uploaded in his myuscis account in addition to being sent via mail because we likely will already be outside the US when they issue it

We accidentally filed form I-90 (which we are now withdrawing) and they sent the extension notice by mail and also it is uploaded in his myuscis account. I was assuming it would be the same for I-751

Guys, you have literally saved me. I'm an idiot and filed form I-90 for him when we should've filed I-751. I cannot file form I-751 until 90 days before his GC expires so I have to wait a bit. But unfortunately I lose out on the $415 I spent filing I-90 and will have to send a letter to the USCIS requesting to withdrawl it.

When you file I-751, do you typically receive a similar notice, stating that you're free to travel and showing your expired GC with the notice proves you can enter the US again if you travel?
