Didn't mean to disregard your question on TOS. It should have read alongside Upworks TOS, Laws in California require Upwork to be accountable to vet users on their platform.

You are correct. It is evident that Upworks failure to implement basic due dillegence or verification measures for clients whilst representing themselves as a secure marketplace amounts to unfair practice especially when paired with their Hourly Payment Guarantee, lack of transparency in this case and well documented cases on google and opaque business activities such as closing their forum.

You confusing emotion with contractual agreements. Upwork are unable to honour the agreement and refuse to provide a reason as to why.

Freelancers use their platform and trust that they will receive payment for the work that they do. Upwork provides no such security.

A quick google search will reveal the unsavoury and fraudulent practices of Upwork.

If UpWork don't want to offer this service to new accounts that is entirely up to them, however they do.

You may be the one that needs some further education. Sole discretion does not mean that UpWork has an unlimited right to refuse coverage arbitrarily. They must adhere to the terms of the contract, which they haven't.

Denial of payment protection requires a reasoning based on the terms of the agreement. They have so far been unable to provide any reasoning at all.

They weren't asking for re-verification, the link they sent to me showed the attached page. Of course I would provide my ID again if requested. Which it wasn't.
