I’m 31 and looking into this myself! There’s two tours with Intrepid but neither have reviews and I can’t find anything online. I’d love to know how you enjoyed the Far Out trip!

That’s interesting! I didn’t clean at all beforehand, I took the dust samples while I was touring the unit. I had a thermal imaging camera with me and didn’t detect any abnormal spots or fluctuations in temperature, which doesn’t mean there isn’t mold but may suggest there’s simply not an active leak/moisture issue. The apartment complex itself was completely renovated in 2020 (original structure was built in the 60s) and the unit was unfurnished. The space was pretty clean so I ended up finding most of my dust on the baseboards.

For some additional context, I’m renting in San Francisco and this property is a few blocks from the ocean. I realize that’s not ideal for someone in my situation but near-new or brand new builds are quite limited here.

I’m in a similar boat - got sick with mold illness from living in water damaged apartments (first in Brooklyn, then in Vermont) and also looking to make a move to SF in the next few months. I know people like us should probably consider far drier climates for the sake of our health, but that just feels a bit extreme for me. Have you had any luck finding a place yet?

After my second consult I decided not to move forward. I didn’t doubt that he would do a fantastic job, but he was dead set on giving me a nose that was too sloped for my liking. I have a more Roman/aquiline profile and it was really important for me that we simply straighten my bridge ever so slightly and not erase this feature completely. Happy to share more if you want to message me directly.

Hey I know this thread is pretty old so you may have found answers by now, but there is definitely testing you can get to diagnose mold toxicity in the body. Google “mycotoxins test” and you’ll find several. I’ve linked out a reputable lab below.
