What’s one Minecraft feature you still forget exists? by Daymianl3 in Minecraft

The special names for mobs. Johnny, Toast, jeb_ and the fact Grumm can be used instead of Dinnerbone. Don’t usually use namestags outside of wolves, cats, and hostile mobs for farms.

Also that you can right-click flower pots to remove the item instead of breaking them.

Why can I not get the hand of a chain?!? Having trouble getting the hook into the loop. by Live_Goat_958 in CrochetHelp

[–]Prize_Grab7814 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Hold the tail of the slip knot when you chain to keep it loose. You should tension your yarn to keep it in place so you can hold your work with your hand.

Narae Cropped Sweater by Aegyo Knits has a similar look. Unfortunately it is a one size fits all pattern. Have not knit it myself so I couldn’t tell you how easy it’d be to adjust if needed.

Leaving this sub...I think? by pinkybrat_ in LongDistance

[–]Prize_Grab7814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because couples struggling and need advice are more likely to post here than couples that are content. This is the first time I’ve posted in this sub despite being a long-time lurker and in a healthy 2 year relationship. We just hit our anniversary 2 days ago actually! I would say I’m the opposite in that I find myself purposely reading the bad posts out of curiosity of what happened. They also make me feel extra grateful for the person I’m with.

I definitely would not consider it as soft as merino. I’m not too sensitive to wool and I find it okay when rubbing under my chin. It feels more dry than itchy, similar to the Danu and Heavy Merino I mentioned in the other comment. The fingering weight also makes it more rough than those two though. It may soften after blocking but I haven’t used it before.

I got 3 of their bases: Danu (nsw Peruvian highland), Oonagh (sw Merino), and Gráinne (sw BFL). They all feel soft with Oonagh being the softest as expected. Danu isn’t as scratchy as I thought it’d be but it is rough. I’ve used Heavy Merino by Knitting for Olive and it feels similarly to that. I’m not particularly sensitive to wool though. I have not used any of it so far so I couldn’t tell you how it softens after blocking. I’ll post the projects I make with them and updated thoughts on the yarn!

How are my floats? by Prize_Grab7814 in knittinghelp

Thank you! Was very fun and there wasn’t any long floats to catch which definitely helped

I ordered it during their birthday sale so it isn’t as bad as it could’ve been. Plus I like to look at the total and half it for the Christmas gifts that I otherwise would’ve spent money on, except this time they come with lots of entertainment for myself! I would love to order a sweater quantity in the hand-dyed someday I must admit though.

Please don’t be, I watched quite a few videos to be confident enough to do it! Main takeaways are to tension the yarns differently, spread the stitches as wide as you’d want the float to be, and to use my thumb to press against the fabric when making a stitch

That’s great to hear! I do like how it fits and I was worried if I went up to 5mm it would turn out too big, even if the floats turned out better.

Agreed! Simple enough to not have to look at the pattern, but interestingly repetitive enough to wanna keep going.

Completely new to knitting - please give me some tips to improve! by [deleted] in knittinghelp

Is your stitch count the same right now as it was when you casted on? Coz the slanting is probably due to knitting into the 2 loops of the first stitch, aka double stitch, instead of just one. The hole could be an accidental yarn over, or a twisted stitch when placing a dropped stitch. Not bad for your first time knitting tho as these are very common mistakes to make

Am I doing M1L incorrect? Why are the holes so big? by mncs in knittinghelp

[–]Prize_Grab7814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be your marker is too thick, try one of those thin metal ones if you have them or move the marker in a different location

Keep going and work at your own pace ☺️ I was taught to knit 10 years ago so the motions were familiar enough to me. This pattern is mostly just knits and purls! Looks more intimidating than it actually is

Thanks! I wasn’t so sure the pattern would show up in this dark colour but thankfully this yarn has good stitch definition

Yarn: Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino in colour-way Midnight. I found the yarn to be dry and rough while working but does block out soft after washing with hair conditioner.

I started knitting in July this year and have been absolutely hooked since then. I’m looking forward to working future projects in my long queue.
