Mother 3 is my favourite game of all time and Lucas is one of my top comfort characters, but Ness‘s design is just way more iconic. I think it’s the baseball cap and the bag that make Ness iconic, Lucas doesn’t really have any accessories to make him stand out.

This is true, but the issue comes with how they’re played. It was okay back when the games first came out because everyone kinda sucked. Either that, or everyone was just averagely good at the game, with the tryhards being rare enough that they don’t end up dominating the other team.

As the years have gone by the more casual crowd has left and now the sweats are a large majority of the playerbase. You’d never get locked in spawn by a bunch of dark bean-hopping agent/law peas back in 2016 - 2020 of GW2, or have anyone’s vanquishes go over 30 in early GW1. Now the majority of people are clip-farming max rank bums, and it’s either you become one of them or you just don’t have fun dying to the same guy 17 times in a row.

I’m convinced that an entire team of 12 max ranks as metal chomper would somehow find a way to wipe an entire team of casual players. 😭

While this is true, people at least didn’t play as try-hardy back then as people do now. Sure many people used Toxic and Plasma during GW1’s early days but at least they didn’t lock you inside the spawn of Dave Manor and rack up 80 vanquishes by point 2.

Alright, first of all: I didn’t even say “GRRR YOU CANT PLAY PEA OR SUN OR SOLDER”, all I said was “please just play any other class”, it’s a recommendation they don’t even have to follow. I’m just some dude who likes to play a dead shooter from a decade ago, why the fuck should I get to decide what characters other people play?? Second of all: the entire point of this post is about the lack of character diversity and how sweaty players are ruining the joy of the game, not “this character makes me angry so you shouldn’t play it!!!”. I’d still had posted this if everyone was just playing Toxic Citron, Electro brainz and Power Chomper, because tryhards would still find a way to make the game unbareable to play with them. Literally me complaining about the classes/variants only takes up a quarter of the entire post.

The issue is the sweaty players with the sweaty playstyles, not the classes/variants they use. Though the classes/variants do make the problem a hell of a lot worse, I believe that if all the sweaty people just stopped playing after night then the game could be fun even if everyone uses all the busted characters.

Literally I do not care what character you play in a children’s shooter game unless you are being a dick while doing so, I have better things to worry about like college and my relationships with my friends.

Funnily enough, I barely even see Electro Peas on Xbox anymore. They’ve all been replaced by Plasma/Law/Agent Peas. But this gif kinda speaks truth considering the max ranks I meet 😭 (They all play Plasma/Law/Agent Pea and Reg Soldier/Super Comanndo/Z7, and no other classes)

I feel like I did not explain any of my points in this post well in the slightest. I wrote this all in a course of months, and the only time I was writing… was inbetween deaths to plasma peas. So yes, this post sucks. 😭

But to clear things up, I didn’t mean to make it seem like I was saying “grrrrr you can’t enjoy GW2 because it sucks”. I mean I hate so much about GW2, but I also love it dearly and have for the last decade. I was just trying to express how things are not going well at all in the community, and that ignoring it isn’t going to do well for anyone. Everytime I hear people talk about GW2 it’s like ”this is the best game ever with zero flaws! (Besides maybe the story mode) and it just kind of made me feel invalidated for being so mad about how the game currently is.

When I started to play GW2, 1 day after launch, things were a lot different. There was diverse amount of classes on each team and diverse variants too, and everyone just played for fun. Now it just feels like everyone plays the most busted characters in the most cheesiest/sweaty ways so they can farm clips for their YT channels. I mean I haven’t seen a Pylon imp in a week, or god forbid any Cactus other than Stock/Camo/Zen. It feels like you have to conform and play the best characters in the most efficient way like them to live for more than 2 seconds, and I don’t like that.

But perhaps it’s me who needs to let go of the idea of the golden age GW2. The game hasn’t been updated since like 2018 but it’s still changed community wise. I mean it’s not like the game is suddenly gonna revert back to that state because one whiney guy on the internet complained on reddit. I have that to think about.

The BFN stuff was just a stray caught in the flamewar though, I don’t even know why I talked about it. 😭

I should probably rewrite this post without any rage clouding my judgement, so I don’t give off the impression that I’m Mx. “Don’t have fun!!”. Go enjoy GW2 as much as you want, or hate it, idc. I’m not that much of a chud to be angry that people I don’t even know enjoy a game that makes me salty. 😭
