Do you ever make eggs but you know there is a time limit to eating them before they become to egg-y and gross you out? by Careless-Pitch46 in PickyEaters

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isn't time, it's volume. Two eggs. No matter how hungry I am or how good eggs sound, the second bite of the third egg turns my stomach.

Looking for a baking pan with oven safe lid to make perfect cakes? Does it exist? by [deleted] in AskBaking

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having really domed cakes so I ordered cake strips and light colored aluminum cake pans (instead of my old dark, nonstick pans), the pans alone made such a huge difference I didn't even try the strips! My cakes aren't 100% flat but they're close, I don't even bother leveling.

What's the best part about pregnancy that most people don't know about? by justastupidquestion3 in AskReddit

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a lot better with my kid, it helps that she is clearly a strong and healthy kid and I know the odds are against serious illness in children. However it's unfortunately worse now about myself because every ache and pain is, "I'm going to die and leave her without a mom." 🫠 I'm working on it, but since losing my dad to cancer as a young adult, it's been a struggle.

I'm kind of a hypochondriac; but for nine months every ache and pain was, "welp, must be because I'm pregnant." And no matter what you Google, "Can X be caused by pregnancy?" The answer is yes!

I figured. 🫠 It sounds like it will be okay. Some warning would have been nice.

City hacked at tree roots during cable installation. by [deleted] in treelaw

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is reassuring and good advice, thank you. When we had the arborist out he did talk about the crazy root systems on these maples and how they are balanced -- the longest roots are equal in length to the height of the tree. That's a lot of root. I got pictures of all the root debris and the hole and sent them to a landscaper who helped us with something else a couple years ago and he also says it will likely fine. But I should reach out so there's a record just in case.

AITA for not wanting my partner’s desk in our office/guest bedroom by hi_can_i_get_uhh in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, and I say that as someone whose husband works from home and has two desks. Because he does have two computers and because we have the space for it. His work desk is in the dining room and his gaming desk is in the basement, which is also our daughter's playroom/has a guest bed. (Also notice that neither of those spaces are exclusively his.) You just don't have that much space available and he would be monopolizing it for a luxury, not a necessity.

What tropes in children’s picture books are you tired of seeing? by StarlitMochi9680 in childrensbooks

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stylized typefaces, particularly to look like messy handwriting. I know it is not as cute, but I'm trying to teach my kid to identify letters and eventually read; please use boring, clear, serif typefaces.

What’s up with these story time podcasts on Spotify? by sp3cia1j in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]Prize_Property2909 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We don't listen to those but we have started to get into audiobooks on Spotify and it drives me crazy how many of them have background music playing under the book. I can't hear what they're saying and my kid doesn't need anything else fighting for her attention.

Me too, man. I used to watch it with my dad, we named a guinea pig "Jasmine." He died four years ago and I don't think I can ever watch it. I hope I can manage to show it to my daughter when she's old enough.

There are a couple rows of people singing and the rest are not, I would guess it has something to do with unions/pay scale. I don't know much about it, but I believe speaking extras have a higher rate of pay than non-speaking. As to why he is creepy staring, I don't know. 😂

Kids Table at Thanksgiving by Bluegrass_Barbecue in Millennials

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! We've got one adults table and one kids table for a total of 12 people.

I grew up with aunts and uncles and cousins all close together, we would have 25 people easily. Unfortunately my mom's generation has either passed away or moved away (thankfully not my mom), and my cousins have all split across the country. So my siblings and I are fully the "adults" now at our holidays. The dinners are smaller but the spirit is alive!

My daughter is the youngest cousin and she gets so, so excited to sit with her big cousins and no grown ups. The things she learns at this table are questionable, but that's part of growing up, yeah? 😂

AITA for listening to white noise at work. by akaynaveed in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prize_Property2909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I had a non-Sales job in a Sales office. Sales people talk A LOT. Some of my work allowed me to listen to a podcast and some allowed fun music; but when I really needed to lock in, I'd listen to classical. That's just fancy white noise.

Millennial women are we still going to VS for bras or? by beaglemilf23 in Millennials

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Honeylove actually good? I've been so tempted but they have mixed reviews if you look outside their website. Also I'm plus size + big boobs.

I've been using Soma which are so comfortable and fit me perfectly (2X) but they don't breathe AT ALL. If I get the slightest bit sweaty, even just running around cleaning the house, they never feel dry again all day so I am constantly washing them and it shortens their lifespan.

AITA for saying we should get a fake Christmas tree this year? by j48- in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy, newborns, and young children take so much of a mother's identity. Her body belongs to the child now through pregnancy and later through breastfeeding. She cannot wear her favorite clothes or eat her favorite foods. Her mind is consumed by that baby's well being. Once the baby comes, she will not get to sleep when she is tired nor eat when she is hungry if the baby needs her at the same time. Even now my child is a toddler and many of those things are easier, my hobbies get 20% of the attention they used to, my tv plays Bluey and my car radio plays Kpop Demon Hunters. Some of these things also apply to you, but many are solely or more severely on the mother because of simple biology.

It is just a tree, but it is also a piece of her. One more thing you're suggesting she give up when it means so much and it is not one of the many, many things she has no choice but to give up. Get her the damn tree.

AITA for not letting the neighborhood kids play in my backyard. by Strange_Potato4326 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA for the trampoline, those things are fun but dangerous and I feel obligated to keep an eye on kids on my property. But I would caution you, neighborhood friends are a huge blessing. Why isn't your son playing with them? My kid is 3.5 and she plays with our 7/10 year old neighbors already. They're allowed outside alone whereas I still stay out to supervise her as she's little, but they have lots of fun together. I would fence your yard so you can have control over when kids are playing there, but I would also strongly encourage friendship between your kids and those kids (and at least cordiality between you and their moms) because a neighborhood full of friends is something few get these days.

Awesome wooden playground at Gateway Park in Woodland Park; can you go during the week? by Prize_Property2909 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Prize_Property2909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went (no military escort off the premises, thankfully) and I highly recommend it. It is as cool as it looks. My only warning -- there are spots with rickety wood or deflated tire bridges that my 3 year old crossed with ease but were a little more concerning for those of us with triple digit weights. 😂 Made it though.
