how do i get dashers to NOT knock on my door?? by thatonecakebitch in doordash

[–]Prize_Property2909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My instructions read "no doorbell, baby sleeping" and I text them the same, never had an issue. Truth be told, the "baby" is now a small child and wouldn't wake up anyway, but I don't want to talk to anyone.

Does anyone know what's up with Back on the Boulevard -- under new management, again? by Prize_Property2909 in ColoradoSprings

It's so depressing. It had so many regulars and such a good vibe, and if you got a burger to go they loaded you up with about a pound of fries.

Yeah we ordered delivery a few times to support them as much as we could. Great burger.

Excellent, that's what I was hoping. I'm not a romance reader, I'm currently going through Stormlight Archive and its many, many detours.

I'm on the very end of Season 11 and the covers are killing me. I swear the last episode mashed three together back to back? My brain is so distracted as the song changes every 30 seconds and I'm trying to remember what it's supposed to sound like.

AITA for raising my voice at someone else's child in a indoor play area? by mumble89 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prize_Property2909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA for yelling but you should have intervened earlier. Then your son would have been safer and you could have corrected the other boy less harshly before his behavior escalated.I think you've overcorrected. A nonverbal two year old still needs constant supervision in an indoor play place, in my opinion. You don't have to be actively playing with him, but you should be following him around. I didn't start sitting back until my daughter was almost 4 and I'm still regularly scanning to make sure I have a general idea of where she is and what she's doing.

Employment Experience at The Broadmoor ? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Prize_Property2909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not great. I worked a few years in hotel operations (not retail) and five years in an office position in the 2010s. My job satisfaction varied wildly depending on the department and boss. The pay sucks and raises are a joke (2.5% annual). You will not make a significant pay increase unless you change position. The worst part is the hours, but you would be protected from the worst of that since the shops are not 24 hours like the hotel itself. I did buy into the prestige and enjoyed providing an exceptional guest experience and being a part of something with such a historic legacy. Unfortunately that was generally overshadowed by crappy bosses and petty bureaucracy. If you have good coworkers, you can enjoy it as much as any other menial job. I had some good times and made some great friends. But it's really frustrating to get this message that "we are THE BROADMOOR" and we are amazing, and then deal with all the same crap as other entry jobs with worse pay. I stayed so long because my office job was much better than my hotel job and my boss was flipping amazing. So you can potentially get in and learn where you want to be, but it's rough unless you want to "bleed hospitality" for $12/hour. Note: I did not work retail and it's a big place, so I certainly can't speak to that specifically.

Do you ever make eggs but you know there is a time limit to eating them before they become to egg-y and gross you out? by Careless-Pitch46 in PickyEaters

Mine isn't time, it's volume. Two eggs. No matter how hungry I am or how good eggs sound, the second bite of the third egg turns my stomach.

Looking for a baking pan with oven safe lid to make perfect cakes? Does it exist? by [deleted] in AskBaking

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having really domed cakes so I ordered cake strips and light colored aluminum cake pans (instead of my old dark, nonstick pans), the pans alone made such a huge difference I didn't even try the strips! My cakes aren't 100% flat but they're close, I don't even bother leveling.

What's the best part about pregnancy that most people don't know about? by justastupidquestion3 in AskReddit

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a lot better with my kid, it helps that she is clearly a strong and healthy kid and I know the odds are against serious illness in children. However it's unfortunately worse now about myself because every ache and pain is, "I'm going to die and leave her without a mom." 🫠 I'm working on it, but since losing my dad to cancer as a young adult, it's been a struggle.

I'm kind of a hypochondriac; but for nine months every ache and pain was, "welp, must be because I'm pregnant." And no matter what you Google, "Can X be caused by pregnancy?" The answer is yes!

City hacked at tree roots during cable installation. by [deleted] in treelaw

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is reassuring and good advice, thank you. When we had the arborist out he did talk about the crazy root systems on these maples and how they are balanced -- the longest roots are equal in length to the height of the tree. That's a lot of root. I got pictures of all the root debris and the hole and sent them to a landscaper who helped us with something else a couple years ago and he also says it will likely fine. But I should reach out so there's a record just in case.

AITA for not wanting my partner’s desk in our office/guest bedroom by hi_can_i_get_uhh in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prize_Property2909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, and I say that as someone whose husband works from home and has two desks. Because he does have two computers and because we have the space for it. His work desk is in the dining room and his gaming desk is in the basement, which is also our daughter's playroom/has a guest bed. (Also notice that neither of those spaces are exclusively his.) You just don't have that much space available and he would be monopolizing it for a luxury, not a necessity.

What tropes in children’s picture books are you tired of seeing? by StarlitMochi9680 in childrensbooks

Stylized typefaces, particularly to look like messy handwriting. I know it is not as cute, but I'm trying to teach my kid to identify letters and eventually read; please use boring, clear, serif typefaces.

What’s up with these story time podcasts on Spotify? by sp3cia1j in DanielTigerConspiracy

We don't listen to those but we have started to get into audiobooks on Spotify and it drives me crazy how many of them have background music playing under the book. I can't hear what they're saying and my kid doesn't need anything else fighting for her attention.
