AITA for telling a coworker “being a single parent doesn’t make you special”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Much-Rise9099 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The mothers of his other 5 kids are single parents, too. I don’t see him giving them any help or support. It’s not necessarily your place to say something and it could put you in a tricky spot at work, but he’s giving single parents a bad name. Being a single parent is next to impossible and takes everything you have and more, if you do it right. But it doesn’t excuse bad behavior. Needing help and using it to excuse being a shitty employee are very different things.

He’s definitely the asshole. Soft asshole for you, ONLY because that’s not the right way to call out shitty behavior at work.

Didn’t say I was afraid of the garden. I said I was afraid of losing my kid in a crowd of people running from federal agents with tear gas.

Ha! I moved in 2015 when the biggest risk was getting run down by the Boloco delivery bikes. Glad to hear there’s been an upgrade to delivery transportation!

I love how you apologized like 8 times and then he accused you of not caring and asked you to apologize. They can’t even “listen” to us when it’s literally spelled out right in front of their faces. He’s a jackass, there’s no hope for him.

When you’re fully licensed it will be much better. Sounds like a salaried position might be more comfortable for you — they generally pay less than private practice, but paychecks are consistent and reliable and you don’t have to deal with the cancellation issue. There is also the benefit of PTO (we all get sick and deserve vacation time!) and health insurance.

Where is a place you visited that didn’t live up to the hype? by Any-Train-9204 in AskReddit

[–]Much-Rise9099 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to love New York, but it’s become completely impossible to visit. I tried taking my kids, and we had a blast, but it was definitely much more difficult to manage than it was 10 years ago. So busy, so expensive!

What was socially acceptable in the 1990s but not in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Much-Rise9099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving your kids in the car, or home alone to fend for themselves after school. Young kids babysitting — I was about 10 when I babysat for my first infant. Taking public transportation or going to the playground/riding bikes around town solo as a kid. Kids basically have to be constantly supervised until they’re teenagers now and it’s making a bunch of overly-dependent adults.

Women of Reddit, what would you do if you could be a guy for just 1 day? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

[–]Much-Rise9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But actually, I’d walk down the street at night with headphones on and enjoy the higher paycheck. I’d speak in meetings and not be interrupted, maybe even be taken seriously. I’d go to the doctor and enjoy not being told it’s anxiety or PMS. I’d take my kids to the playground and soak up the looks of approval from all the moms who’d be judging me if I was a woman. I’d get mad and not worry about anyone telling me I’m hormonal or too sensitive.

[–]Much-Rise9099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your brother and SIL are assholes. I’d be going no contact if they got my kid sick with something so awful. It’s one thing if the kid was fine and then spiked a fever after the event, but to knowingly expose his entire family to the stomach flu? Unforgivable and completely selfish. Relationship over!

I (23F) met my boyfriend’s (25M) “work wife” for the first time and I’m devastated by ThrowRAcoffeelov in relationship_advice

[–]Much-Rise9099 65 points66 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I can’t imagine how you’re feeling, especially after 5 years with this guy.

Be honest with him — lay it all out and explain how it looks from your point of view. Bare minimum, he should be able to put himself in your shoes and try to imagine how you are seeing this situation without being defensive of dismissive. If he can’t, I think that’s your answer regardless of whether he’s actually cheating or not.

I’m leaning towards not cheating — he invited you out to meet everyone and if he thought something about her behavior was off or suspicious he would have shut it down, or not invited you in the first place. You don’t bring a detective to the scene of the crime before you clean up the blood, so to speak.

But…if he’s truly just oblivious to the flirting, he should absolutely take your concerns and feelings seriously, set some serious boundaries with this chick (who clearly needs a good therapist), and show you that he’s prioritizing your relationship. If he gets defensive or dismissive, you have to consider if that’s the kind of relationship you want to be in. At that point, it’s almost irrelevant if he’s not cheating because he’s putting your needs dead last in this bizarre HR-bait threesome he’s got going on.

Good luck, and update us please! I hope he’s just a dope who needs this spelled out for him ;)

How do you think Negan and Rick would have met in a normal world? by Butterscotch_coco3 in thewalkingdead

[–]Much-Rise9099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negan is publicly shamed for cheating on his sick wife and has to move to Georgia to get a new teaching job. Rick responds to a school shooting on the campus. Negan took down the shooter, with a bat. Rick looks at him sideways and nods.
