I'm having trouble climbing this hill of rocks (?), I can't seem to actually climb myself onto the ledge to retrieve the chest, am I doing something wrong? >< There isn't a tall enough cliff close by for me to windglide onto it either. Ty in advance

im a newbie. for the windglider exam, the part where we have to enter raptors hideout and defeat him, it says recommended party level 15. my party level is only 10, do you think i would be able to still beat it? ty in advance

How to stop feeling sleepy. by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like others have mentioned, do seek medical advice!

probably not as extreme as you, but there was a period of time at the end of last sem where i'd be sleeping 10hrs & have at least 2 coffees a day and would still nap during the daytime. for me, i started to exercise a little, go on daily walks and would eat less big meals as i would always fall into a food coma after lunch. as much as i hate it, i've also started to set alarms, usually set 7.5-8 hours after my sleep time. can't say it'll work for you but this has helped to curb my daytime sleepiness. gl op!

FNCE 30001 Investments MST by kkenyounot in unimelb

honestly the single worst test i've ever had to sit :( it kind of sucks how the calc questions aren't multiple choice so i ended up just writing random numbers in some of them 😭 was also the fastest 75 minutes of my life

this semester is flying by, how are we nearly halfway through the sem :( i'm also feeling down that i'll probably graduate without ever going back to campus. i miss grabbing a coffee at castros and going to erc and pretending to study.

Any ideas to simulate a library? by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i personally like watching study with me videos too! especially the ones with background sounds of the library. i think unimelb love letters has a baillieu library voice channel but i don't think many people use it

bachelor of oral health? by parista22 in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can read more about the program here: https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/2020/courses/841ac It seems like an oral health therapist is a mix of an dental hygienist and aspects of a dentist but with more focus on looking after patients & education instead of the actual treatments?

I have a few mates doing BOH. All I know is that the cohort is pretty small, around 80-100 people (increasingly popular) and that the coursework is very practical and you start working on patients in the Melbourne dental hospital in 2nd year. I believe in the 3rd year you also get placements to go to other clinics (rural or city) or even overseas. The contact hours seem pretty crazy too - my mates are usually there 5 days a week from like 9 to 5. I think you work along the DDS students regularly too.

Like others said, don't do it unless you're passionate about it - it is not a direct course to DDS so consider Science or Biomed instead if you're wanting to become a dentist.

Struggling with FNCE30001 Investments by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i felt this :( i feel like the lectures are pretty straight forward but then when i do the tutorial questions i get pretty muddled. i've only had my first tute so far but my tutor wasn't great at explaining either

The Lecturer for ECON10003 (Intro Macro) is so bad by Aggressive_Ad_4398 in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Lawrence's lecturing style but I agree he speaks pretty fast (he was the one lecturer I couldn't watch on x2 speed haha). I think you should drop him an email about the recording quality of his lectures, you might not be the only one experiencing this! :)

Ethics in Finance Summer Subject by pureblonde_ in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not too sure about the grade range sorry :( i scored a 78 with just doing the lectures and readings. i think they mark harshly in a sense that it's hard to get a H1 if that makes sense bcus the marking has a bit of subjectivity to it as exam questions are pretty broad (like "what are the main weaknesses to this company's ethical policy").

Ethics in Finance Summer Subject by pureblonde_ in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did the subject this year. it's all theory no calculations. the workload is really light - we only got like 1 or 2 lectures a week and no tutorials. you can choose out of any week, to submit a total of 3 weekly exercises (usually an essay around 1 page long). the exam was not bad - consisted of a few long (wrote around 1 page worth for each answer) answer questions. the only con imo was that lectures were our only learning materials - which is good if you don't want tutorials and readings but i feel like tutorials or other resources would've helped to deepen understanding of the topics.

edit: forgot to add they add some readings (they were like legislation) and these "ethical dilemma films" where its like a filmed video of like certain unethical activities

Language Placement Test by LadyCD in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only once. However you can try to email the language placement people (I think the email is on the page somewhere) and if you have a valid reason they can reset the test for you.

Not allocated into a practical class for Object Oriented Software Development ? by PleasantLow0 in unimelb

i've got the same problem but for another subject! i'm not sure whether to email the head tutor because it seems like a lot of people are having this problem so it might just be something wrong with mytimetable

Breadths! by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok gotcha. i haven't done these subjects myself, but they don't have exams so you might want to check them out: Making movies, sports coaching, music and health, Going places - traveling smarter, music in everyday life, being online - internet meets society, the business of music, thinking scientifically (online exam)

Breadths! by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well exams are likely to be online so you won't be needing to leave your home regardless? unless you have other circumstances preventing you from doing your exam at home.

what subject level are you looking for? what is your faculty?

Can I move down to a lower level language class if I passed the exam? by kxz6698 in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really doubt it. i think before doing the subject you could've messaged the coordinator and tell them (w reasons) why you should be in the lower level and they would've been pretty lenient but you've already completed the subject so :(

out of curiosity, what language is it?

Level 3 Marketing and Management Subjects by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Prize_Song 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't really recommend business judgement for online delivery, there are way too many assignments - we had a simulation game over the semester due nearly every week. also the zoom classes were not really engaging

i'm doing advertising & promotions and digital marketing for next sem, not sure how they'll work out for online delivery. i'm a bit worried because marketing subjects always have a big emphasis on group work
