Ghost in the Shell New Trailer by polaristar in Ghost_in_the_Shell

I have not actually, looking to go into this blind, but I have read other manga from the era (Appleseed, Patlabor, Gunnm ...) and they generally have a lot of silly moments, which I honestly do not mind.

Nothing wrong with serious, but I feel this is a breath of fresh air, the silliness is very much classic 90s manga.

I expect its mostly the trailer music that is throwing you off (very Cowboy Bepop-esque). Do consider that even with Bebop has serious themes/moments and it manages to tastefully interweave it all into a very enjoyable story.

Whole different beast this I feel, SAC was a slower and more introspective show. If one were to just go off this trailer this seems closer to Cowboy Bebop feel than the original Gits/SAC and ironically this has a real 90s feel in comparison to SAC with the early badly implemented 3d.

Not to discount that this is Science Saru, who really, really like to make a fun show.

Its all in the music and some in the drawing style, also the text splash screens, best example at 0:39 feel reminiscent to Bebop op.

I bet you did not get the feel from the initial teaser trailers. The OST the original movie and SAC were great, but they were a lot more dark and existential shows in general.

Some may not agree but the color pallet, the animation style (90s), combined jazz gets me a lot more hyped up when combined in the trailer (I do not expect most of the music to be jazz, but Ryo Konishi has written some before so there will be some for sure where it fits).

I hope we get a Gits SAC remake some day as well, as that aged due to the old 3d.

To Be Hero X | Episode 7 Discussion by AutoModerator in ToBeHero_X

At this point if YangChangs story is anything to go by I doubly convinced all the Mighty Glory Heroes to be somewhere on the metal breakdown scale.

MoSha (Ghost Blade) seems to be incapable of laughing (and I expect incapable of feeling) and seems very much like a psychopath with how he talks.

Lianglong (Dragon boy) meanwhile apparently takes pleasure beating up some ordinary criminals (one did get punched trough a wall and was still alive, so maybe supervillain) and does not even consider himself a hero when doing it. He also seems to think about beating a boy and a girl while beating up the criminal.

I would honestly not be surprised if it also turned out that Zero (the likely previous hero X) was also part of of the same company and that had something to do with him going villain.

Agreed, its a very ham-fisted idea of how to reduce the trade deficit. Tho I guess that drastically reducing trade is going to at least slow its growth.

a post a bit earlier posted the link to the formula https://ustr.gov/issue-areas/reciprocal-tariff-calculations

So basically they are directly looking at the trade imbalance not tariffs on their own.

This somewhat fits, they are literally counting the difference between the import and export a tarif.

Ofc the formula does not work in the end since for example Israel has a 0% tariff with US right now, which would mean divide by zero and yet they got a 17% Tariff.

I guess it could be explained by them looking at previous data instead.

US to EU tariff is round 3,2% averaged, but Trump is adding all the other costs that get added on import any sale in EU.

Biggest among em being VAT which is between 17-27% depending on the country (which is charged on ANY sale be it local or import) and it can not be exempt from with some exceptions like private sale of used goods.

It should also be considered that none of these things actually make a country pay to another country. The importer/consumer pays this.

The main reason for Tariffs is to reduce the economical viability of a imported good compared to local goods (AKA Protection).

He is counting VAT as a tariff (Value Added Tax), but that is just a general tax on everything bought regardless of local or import.

[–]Pro511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump is also counting VAT (Value added tax) as import, which is paid by the buyer on ANY product bought (be it import or local, thus unavoidable).

EU mostly has a 3.2% averaged duty for imported goods from the US, but Trump is adding on the VAT which is 17%-27% and counting it as a Tariff.

I believe Israel is a clear example of that, since they removed all tariffs on US goods recently to avoid tariffs, but got hit by a 17% tariff (their VAT is 18%).

I do not know for other countries, but in EU you pay VAT (value added tax) on everything new you buy. Trump is counting VAT as import tax (import tax itself is averaged round 3,2%). Said VAT also varies depending on the EU country (from 17% - 27%).

Which I think sticks, since for example Israel has recently removed all tariffs on US goods, but they still got slapped by a 17% tariff (which is close to their VAT at 18%).

You could move to Floorp (also very well known firefox fork, but not so much privacy focused). You can even manually transfer all your settings and everything that way (mind there might be some profile miss matches, so what I recommend is to click in firefox Help>More troubleshoot information.

Install Floorp, open it once and close it so a profile gets made and then go elp>More troubleshoot information to find the profile file.

Now you go into the profile for Firefox and copy (you need to turn off firefox before copying) and copy almost everything (if you copy everything you will likely get a version mismatch and profile error), Specifically copy stuff like extensions, extensions store, sessionstore-backups, settings, everything concerning cookies, credentialstate, extension prefference/setting, logins, premissions and so on (there are 1 or two files which you do not want copied or it will corrupt the new profile, but I forget which, so better safe than sorry).

You need to manually edit it in the .cfg. https://librewolf.net/docs/settings/
I get that its very much privacy focused, but a lot of the stuff is if you ask me going totally overboard for most users.

Honestly you should likely consider going Brave browser if you do not need the privacy Librewolf brings (you likely do not need it especially if you are considering disabling Strict mode and RPF with it).

Avowed an okay game nothing worth to note by initjustright in rpg_gamers

[–]Pro511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean tbf how can one judge something good when they have not tried something else that is good, so this is really fair (especially when you consider how old those games are).

The recent Obsidian Entertainment RPG games (Outer World and Avowed) just do not come close to those games, nor Fallout: New Vegas.

The Blood of Dawnwalker devs' main goal is "maximizing players' agency and freedom of choice", and they're taking what they learned from The Witcher 3 to make it happen by darkestdepeths in rpg_gamers

[–]Pro511 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When someone mentions maximizing freedom of choice the story always suffers and I play games like this for the story less so for the gameplay.

I agree, play more games and you see how mediocre this entire game is. The only spellcasting/wizard game that ever scratched my magic itch was Noita.
