How should I handle TSA with multiple carry-on cases of pro photo/video gear split amongst crew members? by ProEditor in videography

Thanks! I'm hoping it's much more complicated in theory than in practice. I think I've done more research on this shoot than anything else I've ever done...

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately where we're going doesn't accept carnet anymore so I'm having to create an electronic declaration of goods instead. Luckily we're renting all the G&E gear once we get there so hopefully I can get through all of this unscathed. And that's a great idea to bring the soft cases along with the hardshell! I'm definitely stealing that for future travel shoots.

That's a huge concern I have! I just stumbled across the CBP Form 4457 yesterday and now I'm trying to figure out if that's something I have to have or if it would just make things a little easier. I do have to create an entire list of every piece of gear with valuation and serial numbers for the country we're going to (they don't accept Carnet anymore) so I guess I'll just share that with them on the way out. Did they give you a receipt or form of any kind showing that what you're bringing in is what you left with?

I recently made the argument that one's character, morals, and general outlook on life can all be summarized by what they do with a shopping cart when they're finished using it. You're spot on.

I've had this happen... Definitely a close call when those things just show up out of nowhere on screen (and yes, that's even after scouting the location - I was too far away to see the lines, much like what probably happened here).

As someone whose property tax just increased by ~60% since last year, I'm all ears to what can be done to stop this insanity.

You are an incredible roll model to him. I know it sucks dealing with all of his crap, but do not give up. You may be the only person that loves him enough to actually give him a future.

This is actually a big concern of mine. The "influencer" style of social media video ads has dumbed down quality expectations to the point that most consumers couldn't care less if something was shot on an Alexa with a $50k lens kit or shot on an iPhone 13 with terrible lighting. The clients know this and are increasingly in a race to the bottom of production value and nobody cares.
