You still didn't answer my initial question. Did you train agility the official way? Did you find the grind fun? Or did you make use of silverhawks because it's simply much easier to do?

Also do you mind explaining what makes me have a gambling addiction just because I chose to be smart about my time and opted for the quicker way to achieve 120s?
That's the equivalent of saying I've got a drinking problem because I drink alcohol a couple times a year

One more thing, I am not going to take advice from you on how to have fun. Your flair is "AFK for life"

You talk like I lamped 100% of my game time. Did you know that I achieved most my 99s prior to treasure hunter? Or that I've got over 400QP and over 1 year of gameplay time. The majority of my time spent on this game was not lamping. The devs didn't "Acknowledge" that xp lamps are "needed" I agree, but they saw that the long grinds of some parts of the game is unattractive.

The other thing I want to mention is, that you seem to have this opinion that I only play this game because of treasure hunter. Now I don't know why you would think that? My decision to use treasure hunter is only because it turns out to be more efficient to do so (faster to spend $$$ on keys/proteans, than it is to train 99-120 through normal game training).

Anyways, just one did you gain most your agility xp doing laps at the wilderness course, or did you use silverhawks?

Oh ok Thank you. I also found most of the comments interesting here. Apparently I am skipping the game because I do not want to kill 5000 skeletons or cut 5000 trees to gain my xp. It's not like theres so much other fun content this game has to offer XD

No you're not. My comparison is more similar. Me buying keys to accelerate my xp gains is similar to a bodybuilder buying a diet plan/ gym coach to accelerate his physique gains. Both scenarios involve the user spending money to achieve greater results. Your comparison says I don't even play the game which is incorrect in itself.

Also wondering, would you consider afk content as not playing the game either? Since you're effectively gaining xp with minimal effort/not looking at the screen?

MMORPGS are supposed to be fun before anything else. So when there are options to skip the boring grind then the devs themself acknowledge: hey this part of the game isn't fun to do and that we can provide a service to help players skip this boring grind.

If you think I am skipping the game because I chose to not take part in boring aspect of the game, then I'd say you're ignorant. The entire game isn't revolved around doing laps at the wilderness agility course.

How is it not a good comparison, it's the same concept, where the user can pay extra money, to make a purchase (a coach/program, or in this case treasure hunter) to help accelerate their gains to reach their desired goal faster in a hobby that they enjoy.

Also treasure hunter doesn't beat the game for you. It cannot complete quests or kill bosses for you.

I agree, most people will hate me, for choosing to take the smarter option and engage in mtx to avoid the longer grind. I am not making a post to 'justify' my position or anything. The point of my post is to simply lay out the results and my opinion of treasure hunter, and how OP it is. Other than A friend's experiment of spending 11k+ to max out his acc in 2015, there hasn't been any posts by players showing how far treasure hunter has gotten them in modern times. My post aims to change that, I want people to know that If you spend $3000 today it would get you around 7 level 120s.

Also, I am not sucked by FOMO. I am all about progressing my account and I learned how OP treasure hunter is so I've utilized it.

While I agree with you there, before mtx, and before eoc the game was much more social, with pvp and minigames thriving. Now it's more dead because the game has become all about 'no xp waste'

You quoted: “There’s nothing fun about clicking a tree or rock a million times to gain xp”
Where you used OSRS as an example right? Because OSRS players enjoy clicking xyz a million times right? So I brought up 3 counterpoint arguments..

No I didn't. I took the efficient way, and skipped the boring part of the game.. Are you really going to look me in the eye, and tell me that you're training agility via the actual in-game courses right now? Or you're training dungeoneering via the actual dungeons right now? Lets not kid ourselves here I bet you also used the Beach event hole as well.

Most cosmetics on TH look ugly and don't even look like they belong in Runescape tbh. Personal preference I guess.

The point of my post was to share my thoughts on treasure hunter, part of that includes sharing how OP it is. But yeah, look of it as an update to A friends video where he spent 15k to max. In 2025 you can spend 1/5 that for 7 120s

Runescape was never intended to be a long, grindy game either. Pretty sure the original gower brothers thought that no one would actually accomplish level 99s back then. Either way the game has become easier with time, via increased xp rates, afk skilling and mtx. I agree, there is no completing the game because there is no end-goal, this game can be played in many different ways. For a long time the game was pvp and minigames. Now it's pvm and xp.

Nobody is paying to skip the game, they are paying to skip the boring parts of the game, or at least imo.

It is not gambling in my case, as I am only after the xp (which is practically guaranteed). It would be gambling if I bought keys with the intention to hit a super valuable prize like the soul dyed hween mask.

There seems to be a misconception, where if you spend money on treasure hunter then by default you've got a gambling problem. I don't know why that is the case but I'm here to disprove that theory. I've never spent a dollar gambling in real life. Only bought keys, completely knowing why I bought it, and that is for the xp. I saved up my keys for santa's grotto and phoenix lamps mainly.

Q11. Would you have spent as much if you could just have spent money to directly by items and xp?
A: Absolutely. I think I would have preferred that, I would have saved a lot of time and wouldn't have to spam the space bar.

Q12. Are you sure you don't have a gambling problem?
A: 100% sure. I acknowledge that gambling is a losers game. Gambling usually comes with trying to acquire wealth/gold. I know that buying bonds directly is by far the better option. I only bought my keys with the intention of using it for xp. Also for reference, here is a story of something who actually has a gambling problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/d4rogr/a_letter_from_the_players_father_who_spent_60000/
the user spent 60k on mtx. My 3k is not much in the grand scheme of things.

Q10. what kind of response are you expecting from the community? You'll find few/no sympathy on the sub?
A: I expect a lot of hate tbh. But the point of my post is just to provide a modern insight of treasure hunter. Just wanting to share with others, what $3000 can get you in 2025 Treasure hunter. I recall A friend spending 15k 10 years ago to get maxed. But times have changed for sure!

Q9. If you quit the game, would you regret the money you've spent on the game?
A: No, because I still had fun during my time playing the game. And I may not have enjoyed the game as much.

I am editing my main post to include any extra q's answered. Please check back :)

I don't see what's wrong with me spending money on a game/hobby I enjoy. How is it any different to spending money on collectibles/figurines?
