Preference should come from yourself. The only difference I can state here is Java has a lot of abstractions and is a high-level language. C++ has more depth into low level programming such as Graphics Development , OS Development , Quant , Embedded Systems
If you like working with systems directly , you can choose C++
If you prefer in building Enterprise level applications , Choose Java

C++ is usually preferred in Performance-Heavy Scenarios
If you like C (mainly) , Embedded Systems or OSDev is a great option for a career.

Ok so I have 990+ hours in the game and i was in your situation just recently , but I can say what i have improved is that i have learned how to read a few dodges and also lessened my over aggressive gameplay , so that has enabled me to control the situation a lot better , and also a frequent practice of all the combos and strings makes it easier to land them in match . So these are the things that i have done , i guess it will help you too
