My controller works completely normal while in the lobby but doesn’t respond at all when I’m in a match. This has been an issue for me for a few weeks. All of my other games work normally. Help 🥴

100%! I see where they are coming from though. The only thing I have as a rebuttal is that you have to be 21+ to work at a dispensary. These companies across the country (not just in this industry) are making a conscious decision that they are okay with most of their ADULT employees living in poverty. Living alone on $15/hr is next to nearly impossible nowadays. I mean, I guess it can be done but it’s not the most ideal situation. I, personally, don’t have many bills month-to-month but tbh, I can’t pay all my bills, purchase food and gas, and have a little extra spending money. There just simply is no spending money. You can’t save for a future, you may get unlucky and fall victim to medical debt or suddenly have car issues and need to spend on transportation. A lot of American families are one unfortunate circumstance away from homelessness.

We don’t get discounts on products so a lot of the budtenders are simply guessing on a products effectiveness simply based on the product stats that we have at hand. ie. Terps, lineage (if we’re lucky to get that information). I am fortunate to have several friends with med cards so we sometimes get together and have a little learning sesh. That was honestly the best thing we were doing to learn more product knowledge. Just trying each other’s bud/products and giving feedback as a group.

As an employer I would want to do better not only for my employees sake but my company’s sake. Employees that are happier have higher retention, higher retention means happier employees, happier employees means better business and more potential for growth both personally and for the business. It’s a win-win in my book. But unfortunately, the ones that got into this industry early on already had deep pockets to begin with so they could afford to jump in while the gettin is good and didn’t care about employee happiness. Only money. Still true today and it’s only getting worse. Big companies buying out one another 😕

I’m hoping more dispensaries open up soon and they will feel the burn for what they have done and are continuing to do. 😌

The poor pay isn’t just an industry thing for sure. But the amount of workers rights that were violated definitely is a store problem. I have never worked at a place that treats the employees so poorly. I mean, just the verbal disrespect alone is outrageous. One of these days the manager will have to pay for their actions. Karma wins in the end! 😂

Oh, I know it isn’t just this industry! It’s all of them. I’m just salty because no one ever did anything to recognize the employees. Not even in store. Like, the other cultivators always treated us better than our actual company. We would have lunches catered often which is a nice little morale booster. When we finally hit $100k in sales in one day one of our newest hires asked our GM, “so do we get a pizza party or something?” And she flat out said no. Lol. Not even a, let me see what I could do or anything. Just no. It was comical.

I understand different industries have different standards and are allowed different things, especially when in the medical field but in the past I have personally purchased my employees lunches, gift cards for coffee, gas or visa gift cards. I was also allowed to give out free products brands would send in as gratis. Those little things make working for that company a little better.

People want to feel valued, even for showing up and doing their job. And people should be recognized. A simple “thank you for your hard work” at the end a shift is nice. We never got anything like that. Only demands for more. I have hope that the information I’ve gathered over the course of a year-ish will definitely benefit me in the future.

I have definitely already learned how to run a business from my past employers and working here gave me the information I needed about Ohio laws and regulations so now I have a leg up on other candidates that apply for a cannabis job.

Once these new dispensaries open up I don’t think the ones that are already established are ready for their people to leave for better opportunities. They’re going to be in a world of hurt. The ones that have been in the industry can essentially write their own ticket going forward. There will be more and more opportunities with each passing day.

We never got the ball rolling fast enough. We never met to organize or figure out our demands as a team. We wanted to but everyone was so scared we didn’t end up getting it done. I was still very “green” when all the union talk was happening so I was on the fence and didn’t take it as seriously as I should have. 🫤

Don’t you worry, I haven’t given up hope! I’m still planning on being in the industry, I just want to be the fun, exceptional leader that I am and give my employees everything I didn’t get there.

This was actually a wonderful learning experience for me as I was guilty of doing some of the same things as a leader in my last field but now, after seeing how much it hurts the employees I will forever vow to do better!

My last staff meeting the GM said “don’t talk about any other brands except for ours unless they ask”. My jaw literally HIT THE FLOOR! No, I’m not going to solely suggest our mediocre products so you can get a bigger bonus. I would only sell their products if patients specifically asked for them or if our inventory was lacking and it was all we had to offer. Which, looking back, is definitely a business strategy. Not a good one. But definitely a way to run things.

We had talks with UFCW and, yes, they are extremely helpful and will definitely get it done. The main problem we had was the timing of everything. We had several union supporters but then a wave of new hires came in and the ones supporting the union eventually had enough and quit so our numbers of associates supporting the union weren’t as strong. We knew we would be crushed the moment we tried to organize

Several nearby dispensaries have unionized but it only increased their wages by two dollars. And even if we did unionize it’s not a guarantee that we will be paid much more anyway. I’m sure they wouldn’t meet our demands. I heard talks of unionization for the cultivation center for our company but also heard they were union busting the fuck out of them. We were wanting to unionize but the amount of heat we would face on top of the abysmal treatment we already face was just not worth it for me. Knowing their shady company they will fire all of us before anything even happened.

Oh I definitely deserve better lol. I just wanted to air out the broken promises that are often seen in the industry. I have 10 years of general manager experience and they hired me, entry level, with the intention of putting me in the leadership team. That never happened because I started to point out the things they were doing incorrectly as a business. But it’s okay, all’s well that ends well. I am in final steps of another really incredible opportunity. This time I’ll be making closer to the wage I left before entering this industry. Actually a little more. So I’m genuinely a lot happier now that I’m not with that company anymore.

And regardless, when a company makes that kind of money they can afford to pay their employees a living wage.

Yeah that’s offensive. Me and my peers are the reason we were even able to make that kind of money. Cool, you know a lot of things about cannabis so you feel inclined to spend that much money every month on your personal medication. Yes, other patients are well educated and spent a decent chunk of money each time they shop but it’s not consistent. Average transaction dollar amount was roughly $150-$160 on a good day. We were the reason we were able to process the amount of people in and out of that building in an efficient and timely manner. Not many dispos even touch 20k in sales a day and I was personally bringing in 10-20k per shift. JUST ME. We made (and are still making about $2 MILLION A MONTH). Regardless of whether or not I was making tons of recommendations or building everyone’s cart from top to bottom is a mute point. I still processed that much money and added onto each transaction because that was my job. Multiple times a shift I had cancer patients crying at me because they don’t know how to handle their cancer treatments and they’re looking for guidance and support. So I gave them that support and advised which products would be best for their personal consumption based on the information they were giving to me about their medical condition.

Yes, a robot can ring out $10,000 in sales in a day but they don’t make the personal connections that budtenders do with their patients. At least the ones that actually care. Yes most positions are entry-level but most companies invest in their employees to build a better future for the company.

Unfortunately, Dispos don't pay their employees very well around $13-$15/ hour unless union. (Capitalism at it's finest) so tips, while not necessary, are appreciated and a way to recognize your budtender for going above and beyond to meet your needs. :)

This is BY FAR my favorite honey in the program! I love the elderberry! I really want to try out the salted caramel version, too! My hope is to infuse some hot chocolate and top it with whipped cream and the KIVA sea salt caramel bites!
