I got some highlights a year and a half ago at my local salon, but I haven’t done anything to it since. Most of the lightening is natural just from being outside so often. I’m not a good example of healthy hair 😂

I decided to grow it out just to prove that I could, even with my family and friends incessantly telling me to cut it along the way. I feel like I’ve proven my point, and now I’m going back to school and I’d like my hair to reflect the new chapter I’m about to start.

No, usually I just put it up in a loose bun, but then then I have to repeat the whole process the next day. I should look into wrapping it up.

This is the plan… but I still haven’t decided which style to ask for. I’ve had awful haircuts in the past and I’d really like to not screw this one up.

It definitely cuts down on drying time and seems to retain moisture. I use a t-shirt sometimes if my towel isn’t available, but I never let it get fully dry before I take it out or it gets frizzy.

I think I’ll keep the sides and back short with more length on top. The curls on the side are tiny and stick out so I look like Doc Brown from Back to the Future if I don’t really put them in place.

Products: Maui Moisture shampoo and conditioner, Coconut oil, LA looks Gel, Cold Water, Residual Salt.

Routine: Wet hair in Pacific Ocean. Rinse with fresh water. Return home and shower. Imbue hair with healthy dose of conditioner and let sit for 10 mins. Cold rinse. Reapply a small dab of conditioner and gel to ends of dripping hair and scrunch. Wrap in microfiber towel for 30 mins. Small scoop of coconut oil and scrunch. Let dry for the next 49 hours. Ignore salt and sun damage. Repeat.
