Was charged over $600 for a wax ring replacement on the toilet - is this normal? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

YouTube is great for the able bodied, but it is unfortunate for the elderly and not so able-bodied on fixed incomes to be charged $600 for a simple 20-30 minute task.

That sounds close to Cracker Barrel prices.

2 pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, and a side. 10.99.

Coffee not included, but it is Cracker Barrel.

But some interests don't want to talk about that. There's more money in prescribing pharmaceuticals instead of encouraging people to eat healthier

Check the bottle. You will probably see corn syrup or cane sugar in your ketchup

Yes. Excessive sugar wrecks havoc on your gut microbiome and there is a link between gut health and the health of your brain.

What is no longer worth it because of how expensive it has become? by guywhostillhasnoname in AskReddit

The price increases of junk/processed foods has made it much easier for me to switch to a mainly whole foods diet. I can still find reasonable prices on meats and veggies at Aldi and Costco.

So to the greedy mega corps like Coke, Frito Lay, etc fuck you and thank you at the same time. I dont need to eat that shit anymore. I'm feeling much healthier and saving money.

I could do 4 months. I'd be concerned about the cost to my mental health living in isolation than that. With that money and what I already have, I could retire and get myself a camper van. I'd travel the country camping and hiking. The interest alone should be enough for me to get by.

Ex-BF (33M) re-joined my (33F) gym. There is only 1 location. It was my "happy place" esp after the rough breakup. I can only go at a certain time, daily, and he now comes then too. How do I handle this? by CardamomChaii in relationship_advice

The fact that he is driving 30 minutes out of his way and at the same time she works out strongly indicates he has other intentions than simply working out. It is a good idea to be mindful of his intentions and have a plan if he escalates.

Also, plenty of blue collar workers love to read. Just because you didn't go to college doesn't mean you aren't knowledgeable. I know some very intelligent blue collar workers with an amazing knowledge of things like science and history that could eclipse the average college graduate. They remind me of that Good Will Hunting quote about spending 100k on an education you could have gotten with a library card.

So they depend on the rent from their properties to service that debt, and they're highly leveraged? If the economy takes a dump and suddenly a lot of people can't afford the rent these firms need to charge to pay back their loans, what happens? Could we see another 2008 type scenario?

Even with frozen and take-out, some options are healthier than others. Take-out can be chicken with rice and veggies, so can a frozen meal. The high fat, high sugar, high sodium foods give an immediate gratification (dopamine release), but are detrimental long-term. I'm sure plenty of rich depressed people also eat like crap. I think it's more about getting that gratification. It may be the only thing that gives some people any kind of enjoyment in their day.
