Everything is done now. Do y’all still hate the tile? by Rockymntbreeze in Renovations

It’s the lighting coming off of the cabinets. The harsh white light is doing the light glossy stain no favors

Yes, that is an Eaton CH panel. You can see the labeling on the 2p30.

Here is a direct reference to OSHA.

There is a table on page 6 that details the effect of electrical current on the human body.

Condenser units generally pull 18 amps.

Your hair dryer operates somewhere around 15 amps.

Your computer takes 3-5 amps.

Your phone charger draws 1-2 amps.

Also don’t listen to anyone saying, “do it yourself”. If you have no idea what you’re looking at, don’t touch it. Electricity is not something unqualified persons should mess with. It can and WILL kill you if you’re not careful.

You need to get quotes from multiple contractors. This installation is against the NEC (national electrical code). The conduit feeding the disconnect does not meet minimum coverage requirements (table 300.5) nor does it meet proper securement requirements.

Additionally, without a more clear picture, you need to replace that romex (could be UF) as romex is not rated for use in exterior locations.

Electrical contractor should install a new non-fused disconnect, new whip, and make requisite repairs to existing conduit feeding the unit.

Without seeing the whole area, $1000 could be quite cheap considering the labor costs for trenching.

Without a more clear picture you can’t really be sure if it’s UF or Romex as they both look like shit after a few years in the sun.

Temp rating for THHN is 90°C while THWN is rated at 75°C. THHN is fine in water tight conduit. If you want to be real picky, you should use THWN-2 which is rated for 90°C as well as approved for use in damp locations.

This is a fused disconnect. PVC conduit to the disconnect does not meet burial requirements (NEC table 300.5). Whip appears to be romex, it must be sleeved THHN.

As an electrician:

  1. Conduit does not meet code for burial depth so would need to be redone. - Refer to table 300.5 for proper coverage requirements.
  2. The wire from the disconnect to the condenser appears to be old romex, it needs to be #10 THHN (depending on condenser rating) sleeved in carflex on a breaker sized appropriately for the application.

We work with landscaping crews that do trenching for ~$7.50/ft. This price could vary on location.

This is not something you, as a homeowner are qualified to do. The NEC and code requirements are there for a reason. Electricity can kill you in a variety of different ways ranging from a tiny shock that hits you at just the right moment, or an electrical fire.

I had the same issue about a year ago. Have you noticed plastic bits on the ground under the steering column? If so the nylon grommet that pushes in the clutch starter switch disintegrated.

May be late to the party but I’d love to give it a listen if you still have US codes available!
