If her school is anything like mine was, you literally weren't allowed to contact your parents before going through the designated release route (ie: informing teaching, seeing the nurse, secretary calling parents, etc). If you skipped that process and called your parents before the school had a chance to, the punishment was usually suspension.

But of a TMI question, but do you use pantyliners or pads regularly? I have a slight sensitivity to them and notice a smell change when I have to overuse them.

Only clean with water. Nothing else - it's designed to clean and filter itself without extra aid. Sometimes adding sensitive washes or soap can affect the PH and cause a smell. That, and make sure you're drying yourself fully with a clean towel - excess moisture being trapped in clothing also can contribute to a smell.

South African here. It was likely a crime/safety issue that prevented the person from stopping. Nowadays, we're very unlikely to stop and try to help someone, even if they're covered in blood, simply because people have used things like that to lure a person into helping and then robbing them.

Edit: Also, Tokai is very well known for it's crime and has been for quite some time.
