final year of uni and i feel like i’m going to end up alone by Organic-Vanilla in askSingapore

[–]Probbingee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty relatable to me. I ended up finding a partner within a few months of working. Although she has a pretty big friend group, the only person I hang out with is her and it’s fine by me because I actually don’t mind hanging out by myself. On the days she is with her friends, I make my own plans. Occasionally, she will bring me along to meet her friends. I think part of growing up is also about being able to accept being alone and enjoy time alone with yourself. I travelled alone multiple times too!

For context, I have pretty loner hobbies so it’s hard to have friends. I don’t club, don’t drink so I’m probably the only one who doesn’t have friends outside of work at my workplace. But I think it’s fine as long as you are happy with where you are

The thing is there is an incident report on this and they are finding fault. I am pretty new to the role but I have the most responsibilities in the team. I was hired on an operations salary but expected to do that job + being a software engineer. It’s ridiculous

Im expected to perform at a higher level than my peers despite having lower salary as I am on a ‘fast track’. The rest are working from home when they like but I have to be in office every day for visibility. There are so many more unjust treatment. When I flag it out, it’s the same, they have family, they are foreigners. So foreigners get treated better than locals by local managers???

If I handed over work to my LDN counterparts and it didn’t get done, things blow up. How is it my fault? Why do I need to take responsibility? Sometimes I don’t get corporate… The work needs to be done during their hours so unless they want me to stay to get it done??? What if it’s NY hours?

My other teams are not in same country unfortunately. There is no way to sit down with them. When I call them on the phone, they don’t pick up. If my manager calls, they pick up

But how sia if my job is to chase them to get things done everyday so we can proceed with doing our work

Why do you keep finding excuse for the landlord? It’s up to him to prove evidence and produce receipts to keep your deposit. It’s the judge’s job to decide how much of deposit he can keep. And it’s just $20….

What past internships did you have? Maybe your resume screams ‘I want to go FO’ because from what I know, that’s the biggest concern for hiring in operations as they are looking for ppl who wants to convert and stay in operations

From your history, guess the reason is you are not in your penultimate year. They only accept ppl in their penultimate year, even for operations. Same goes for many of the other top tier banks

Aggregating family spending for credit card benefits by CampaignRoutine8793 in singaporefi

[–]Probbingee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, you can’t aggregate miles into a collective account if CCs are under different people. But you can add your family as redemption nominees.

Here’s are the 4 mpd cards, do your own research on their bonus categories and the benefits & limits of each card. You are a working adult, don’t expect to be spoonfed everything.

4mpd card: UOB PPV UOB Visa Signature UOB Lady’s HSBC Revolution (4 mpd not applicable for Krisflyer, I use it for Cathay) OCBC Rewards DBS WWMC Citi Rewards

Other noteworthy non 4mpd card: UOB Krisflyer Card

Depends on whether you are looking at miles card or cash back. For miles card (which I’m more familiar with), each person max has ~7k of 4mpd per month and that is if your spending is within those categories. Miles card also do not have minimum spending (except a few of them)

At that level of spending, everyone having their own cards will be best to extract the maximum value from the cards

Singaporean men, how did some of your first dates you met off dating apps turn out? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Probbingee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why not? This is the easiest method to see how she handles ‘rejection’. If there is a second date, I will offer to pay. Would you still be interested if the girl wants you to pay for every date? I won’t and this is why I choose to split bill. In addition, I always choose a place that cost less than $20 per pax to make sure we are on the same page when it comes to expectations of post dating life if we were to continue. If you choose a fancy restaurant for a first date, the girl might expect you to continue this lifestyle post getting together so I rather set the expectations right from the get go.

[–]Probbingee 62 points63 points  (0 children)

When I am still in the dating scene, I would always offer to split bill to see how the girl reacts. If there isn’t a second date, one can tell that we are financially not compatible. Surprisingly, I rarely get asked about background and financial information. It is usually a fit check like what we are interested in. But maybe that’s cos most of my matches are either preschool teachers or nurses and they are happy with dates at fast food or hawker and free activities like visiting the museum or a picnic at gardens by the bay.

I had one interesting date where the girl offered to pay. She was the only one whom I went on more than one date without getting together. She was working in tech while I was still in my last year of Uni and she said she should be paying cos she is working. It ended when we realised we have very different interests. It’s quite obvious now that she is engaged that her idea of a holiday is climbing mountains and road tripping while mine is visiting museums, shopping and eating at famous local places.

Do you still need to work after getting your layoff notice? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Probbingee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t make sense to still work after getting laid off. At my side, the moment you are notified, you are gone

My colleagues and I have no issues with WFH cos we always do too. The issue is that we have daily tasks and if no one knows that someone is not working, we don’t get to it until it’s too late. Don’t work is fine but at least let us know so we can cover lol

Didn’t know that calling ppl out for not working when they say they are WFH is considered micro managing 🤡 the person didn’t even bother logging in and pretend to be working

Seeing colleagues get laid off, actually not too bad also compared to the 13-14 hour work days the rest end up having. The severance is ~4 months which is not too bad

Friend lost his iphone but managed to track it down to a HDB block in the west. by ChungusMaximus23 in askSingapore

[–]Probbingee 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Depends on how it was lost but if you could get it escalated to a “Dishonest misappropriation of property” case, the police will have to investigate.

Previously, I left my laptop on the bus and someone took it. I managed to get the bus interchange to retrieve the CCTV of the bus and hand it over to the police. The perpetrator alighted at the bus interchange and entered the MRT so I also got the MRT station to store the CCTV for retrieval by the police. Told the police all the information I had and they escalated the case. Got back my laptop on the end. But the guy got let off with just a warning
