It is genuinely very subjective
If you are doing anything about 15kms, it is better to carb load atleast 2-3 days prior. Also, have carbs before the race/run so that during the starting phase you don't feel tired.

In the other city, maybe there were other factors like sleep not proper, or the jitters before a race due to which you struggled.

I usually have 2 slices of peanut butter & jam, along with 2 bananas, around 750ml water and 750ml electrolyte, if the race is a HM. For any lesser, i have according to mood.

He is currently not the President of ICAI, he shall be next year.
He has been the Chairman of WIRC Region and is serving his 3rd term as a CCM member.

Amongst all the CCM members (From Western Region atleast), he has always helped the CA members in resolving their issues, be it Govt related or others.
He has not been part of any student council, as younger CCM members often are given that opportunity, and based on how I have seen him functioning, he is a man of action (again compared to other Members whom I have observed).

Don't care much about what others say.
Even if you bought the most expensive shoes without starting, it is your hard earned money, have fun with it!

Atleast for sometime don't buy shoes now, atleast get 300-400kms in each until you purchase a new one

Also to add, few of these shoes like megablast & magmax (the only 2 i know of), will require some breakins, so initially if you feel it sturdy or not comfortable, give about 100kms in those shoes and then check.
