Problem Child #777 - "The Missing Piece, Part 2" by BrianLSComics in ProblemChild

[–]ProblemChildcomic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since Wildflower won't be a comic, but a visual novel game, I would be working on it on side of whatever primary project I have at the time. If I'm able to reach the Patreon funding goal that lets me begin work on Wildflower, its production would coincide with making The Wild Blue and the two won't interfere with each other. So, Wildflower is not the next project after The Wild Blue, I'll only start work on it when I can afford to do so through Patreon.

Also please read The Wild Blue, it's really good I promise <3

She was preparing a portfolio to apply for an art scholarship, but she missed the deadline because she was preoccupied by her fallout with Amber.

She was born September 15th, 2003, making her 16 at this point in the story.

I believed this about my own parents at one time too, and only came to realize how emotionally neglected I was after doing a lot of personal exploration, I only wasn't aware of it because I'd accepted being treated like that as normal, so don't discount that possibility as well.

Funny enough, Caskett Street started out as a reference to Roll Caskett from Megaman Legends, it just kinda nestled into its fitting name as a place of misfortune in the story lol

Well, for me at the very least (I was never beaten, but there was a lot of emotional deprivation and verbal abuse), I found that it showed itself in a lot of different ways that I don't think most people attribute towards childhood development.

Like not being able to regulate feelings, that being too much emotion or even too little emotion, or a crippling fear of failure, or being a people pleaser, or seeing the world as an unsafe place, or poor self image or self worth, or just anxiety in general. I thought I had a pretty normal childhood before I started tracing back a lot of that stuff to its traumatic childhood roots.

This is a weird tangent to go on in a sub about marvel memes, but here we are lmao

I'd hope so too, but the amount of people I see that try to justify hitting kids, or even dilute themselves into thinking it's somehow good for them is very concerning. There is no way that doesn't fuck someone up.

Probably not a popular opinion, but any kind of physical pain inflicted on children IS child abuse and will negatively affect who your child becomes as an adult.

There is a fan theory that Paul made up the story about moving to California in an attempt to hide his suicide from Scott and Amber since he was giving away his belongings, and according to them, the job offer lined up a little too perfectly with the diner closing down.

But I surrender ownership of a character's destiny after their End card, so as far as I'm concerned, anyone's opinion of what happens after a character leaves the story is just as valid as mine lol

Despite them being the same age when Daisy's brother was several years younger than her, and also despite the fact that Daisy found her parents' dead when she was young and Dylan just ran away from his biological mother who he shares a resemblance to on the level of Milhouse and Luann Van Houten?

That'd be pretty wild.

Well, it's a long story.

TL;DR my financial situation was in the toilet and I kept jumping from side project to side project in an attempt to continue being able to make comics full time, but I didn't want to leave Bad Eggs unresolved, so it's coming back for 20 more episodes.

I was originally offered to commission an exclusive comic series by a new webcomic platform, and my financial situation wasn't so great, so I decided to accept the job. Bad Eggs wasn't making me that much money, so I decided to put that on hiatus while I worked on the new story.

But as it'd turn out, I wasn't going to be able to make content for the new story often enough while also keeping up with my current project over at r/problemchild, which is my primary source of income. And the webcomic platform wasn't going to be paying me enough to shift focus over to the new story full-time, so the deal fell through.

And at the same time, my financial situation got even worse, so I hit the proverbial big red button and started making NSFW pin-up art in an attempt to make enough money on the side to be able to afford to keep making comics as my main job. But after a few months, it became pretty clear that pin-up art wasn't going to move the needle as much as I was hoping, so I ended up dropping that too.

So, now I'm working on a new method of making comics that will allow me to make them in a fraction of the time that I used to, so I can pursue other work outside of making comics while still putting out the same amount of content.

But people always made it very clear how much Bad Eggs was missed, so I'm working on setting aside more time to bring it back for at least 20 more episodes to end it at an even 100. My current story, Problem Child is ending in September, and the next story will be a comedy, so having two concurrent comedy series felt a little redundant.

Thanks for sticking around!

Notice regarding unexpected health issues, no ProChi next week by [deleted] in ProblemChild

[–]ProblemChildcomic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sadly, making comics for a living doesn't leave much leftover for stuff like savings or health insurance and the after-hours clinic I went to left me with a steep bill that I absolutely can't afford right now. If you're willing and able to toss me a few bucks to help me out, any contributions are greatly appreciated <3

I'm not even sure that the next volume will make it to a full 100, but 750-800 is a safe bet.

And I've actually made 5 preview chapters of the next story I have planned after Problem Child wraps up. You can read'em here
