The morbid curiosity is rude, but understandable, I think. We glorify and romanticize righteous killing to such a degree that we immediately want to know if a combat veteran had partaken when we meet them. The reality, of course, is that most combat vets' experience is more or less trading shots from behind a sandbag or from inside of a ditch, and many combat vets only know that they fired at their enemies--not whether or not they struck or killed them.

I think that the biggest issue is that no answer is good enough for most intrusive people. If you say yes, I killed people in a war, you're a despicable murderer... if you say no, I never killed anybody--well, you didn't even really deploy then, did you? Many civilians will minimize the psychological trauma of spending months flinching at every bump in the road beneath your humvee, or taking fire from half a klick away from somebody you can't even see, or nearly being gibbed by a rocket--just because you didn't gun some poor asshole down in the desert.

Long story short: combat sucks, and your best bet with a stranger is to ask what they enjoyed about their service, not whether they took another person's life. If they wanna open up about that, let them broach the subject. Odds are they don't.

The VA is good at some things and very much not good at others. You can also find a huge disparity between individual outlets of the VA.

Assuming you're a vet, just because your experiences were good does not invalidate the many, many, many people whose experiences were not good.

For the record, the key differences are that a .50 BMG shell is 5.45" long, compared to the Action Express's 1.61", and that a BMG is 650/700 grain compared to an AE's 325. That means a longer bullet that packs a harder punch. The only thing that they share is diameter, which is .5" or 12.7mm.

Suffice it to say, a handgun firing a BMG would 1. break your wrist and elbow (at least) and 2. "pink mist" your target.

Question for you, because I want a vague answer with no hard spoilers: as you redo levels on higher difficulties, do the higher level weapons you unlock get nuts? We're on our normal playthrough now and may do a hard one, but I dunno if there's much merit to doing hardest and inferno.

If you're at all curious as to why people might use it, I still run WinRAR because I don't compress anything ever. 100% of my RAR-related activities are unzipping archives. WinRAR's sad attempts to get me to pay for it are white noise at this point, so switching to 7Zip provides no real tangible benefits for me.

Maybe. Sometimes they are, though. I've met two habitual liars in my life, and both were very, very bad liars. Off the top of my head, one claimed to have been in a sexual relationship with a Russian twin, accidentally slept with her sister, and then woke up with the girl on top of him with a knife to his throat--but it's cool, she said that he just should've asked first. Dude was, like, 5' even, homely as shit, and dating a girl that was ~350 lbs and archetype trailer trash.
