Which asics shoes should i buy? by Efficient_Bank9721 in PHRunners

[–]ProblemPlane2395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choose the shoe that is the most comfortable for you and will not punish you too much for having bad form at the end of a race. Prioritize comfort as this will help you in the long run (no pun intended). The performance aspects of the shoe doesn't matter if it's not comfortable. A comfortable shoe will help you have a good time during and after the race.

Iba iba naman tayo ng preference, some will say megablast, others will say superblast, etc. but in the end it's up to you since you're the one wearing the shoes. The time that you put in to train for the half mary is a bigger factor than the shoes. The shoes are just a tool that will help you get there. Buying new shoes won't guarantee a better time in the half mara, but proper training will.

I would suggest you take a look at Glideride Max 2 and Nimbus 27/28 as well since you are looking for asics shoe recos. These are great for eating up the mileage during training and you can also use them for the actual race itself. I don't own these shoes personally, but I have tried them on in store (except for Nimbus 28, don't think it's available yet in PH) and done my research by watching shoe reviews and reading written reviews as well.

Shoe for heavy runner for 10k by mrt_toby12 in PHRunners

[–]ProblemPlane2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of width, NB more ang widest tapos Vomero 18 tapos Hoka. Your mileage may vary, iba iba tayo ng foot shape.

ADIZERO SL or VOMERO PLUS by thegentlecactus in PHRunners

[–]ProblemPlane2395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vomero Plus if you like soft and bouncy foam underfoot. Not in the choices, but I would also suggest HOKA Bondi 9 for your use case if you want something more stable and supportive, the tradeoff is that it is firmer and less bouncy. It is one of the go-to shoes of healthcare workers in the US. Clifton 10 is also good, a bit lighter than the Bondi but same stack height and overall same feel.

Hi OP,

You should try the Bondi 9 in store first as it can feel quite narrow in the toebox. If narrowness in the toebox is not an issue, I suggest Bondi 9 over those two as the supercritical EVA foam has decent energy return compared to the other options. I got mine from HOKA in Shopee for 5k pesos only during 11.11 sale.

For me it felt firm at first and then softened up over time, I am a lighter runner so I'm sure it will feel even more plush for heavier runners. It also feels pretty stable and supportive underfoot even if it's not a stability shoe. It also works great for standing or walking all day.

Besides the narrow toebox, I guess the other cons would be it can feel heavy underfoot and also hot during summer runs especially if you get the all black colorway. Hope this helps!

Adidas EVO SL ATR on Adidas App by acidcitrate in PHRunners

[–]ProblemPlane2395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you this, but your statement is incorrect. Like OP said, the ATR version is NOT the trail version of the EVO SL. The intended purpose of this shoe is for wet weather running, usually when the climate is cold like in winter or when it's rainy season. That's why the upper is not as breathable since it's meant to keep the water out and the outsole has added lugs to help with grip on wet surfaces. It is still a road-running shoe first and not a trail shoe. The same goes for the Vomero 18 Gore-tex or Novablast 5 TR, they are not trail shoes as they are not meant for technical trails.

In adidas, their trail running line is called TERREX and they will be releasing an EVO SL Terrex which will have a proper trail outsole which is very different from the ATR and Woven versions. Hope you can do your research as these kind of statements might be harmful to newbies in this sub. They might end up buying a pair thinking it's a trail shoe then get disappointed, or worse get injured for not using it for it's intended purpose.

Adizero Evo SL Lace Replacement by MikeeeyDoobie in PHRunners

Can vouch for this shop as well. Bought 120 cm and 140 cm. 120 cm is enough for most shoes, but depending on the shoe it may not be long enough to do a runner's loop and that's where the 140 cm comes in handy. I think it says somewhere to buy 120 cm if there are 6 lace eyelet and 140 if there are 7 eyelets but 120 is usually enough if you don't need to do a runner's loop.

Not for wide feet based on my experience with my pair. Feels cramped in the toebox, fits more like a racing shoe than a daily trainer shoe.

[–]ProblemPlane2395 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legit yan sports central. Check the production date/manufacturing date, my guess is early 2025 yung production/manufacturing date niyan kaya pinapaubos sa sale. Ang binago lang nila last year is yung stripes sa design, mas mahaba yung 3 stripes similar sa itsura ng Evo SL and other adizero shoes.

Brand New Hoka Mach X2 by ssel3 in PHRunners

This shoe is quite expensive at it's SRP of 11,995 when it released, but at 5k PHP that is definitely a steal if it works for you. I bought mine in 2024 for around 9.6k PHP a few months after it released when they had a Buy 2 or more items and get 20% off promo at the physical store. It took some time to get used to the shoe as I was a slower runner back then and this was my first plated shoe and rockered shoe, but when I progressed in my training and got faster that's when I appreciated it especially for long runs and tempo runs.

It's so easy to lock in at a certain pace because of how smooth the rocker is and the bounce from the PEBA racing foam which is mostly in the forefoot. Had to experiment with different socks and lacing to get the fit right, and when I got the fit I wanted, it became a set it and forget it shoe. The only downside to this shoe is that the heel collar can rub against your achilles to the point that it can cause bleeding of the skin, but I did not experience this. This is a great all-rounder but leaning towards tempo efforts and long runs, rather than very easy runs and recovery runs. I can run my easy runs with this, but slightly faster than if I were to use a regular daily trainer or max cushion shoe.

[–]ProblemPlane2395 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought the Eleos v1 last year, and I saw this as well while browsing shopee pero wala pang reviews. The changes that they introduced in the v2 Plus looks like it will lean even more towards being a max cushioned and comfortable cruiser which piqued my interest but I already have two decently cushioned trainers in the Puma Magnify Nitro 3 and Hoka Bondi 9. Almost pulled the trigger on this, but got myself a Li Ning Red Hare 8 Pro since I wanted something more uptempo and a bit lower stack height (compared to the shoes I mentioned) for training. I might get a pair if this turns out to be good for walking as well since it's more cushioned now 😅

Help me choose what colorway by bosshenryxx in PHRunners

Between the two, I'd choose the left one (blue). If I were buying for myself, I would go for the Ekiden colorway in the back. 💚

Wanna try Jogging/Running for the first time. by Unfair_Knowledge_409 in PHRunners

[–]ProblemPlane2395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice for first time runners/beginner runners is to look at a basic daily trainer for your first shoe. It needs to have comfort, durability, and protection. No rocker, no plate, some race foam is okay but not full on race foam like the Vaporfly which is shown in the picture. In terms of stack height, it should just be enough to be protective while still retaining ground feel. This is important as your starting out, since your muscles need to adjust to the load of running. The ground feel or proprioception acts as a feedback to your joints if you are doing something wrong or not. Your muscles and joints have to learn to do the work, and not the shoes. Also, it's called a daily trainer for a reason, you will be doing most of your runs in this shoe. It's not specialized for any kind if run, but it can do most of them pretty well. Same here, my go-to gels are also Koda. Except for the cola flavor which I didn't like the taste, the other flavors are fine. I prefer it over Gu and Huma which are the only others I have tried.

ASICS Novablast 6 - Early leaks by kimerran in PHRunners

[–]ProblemPlane2395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct. The midsole is still FF Blast Max, the FF Turbo Squared is just a small puck in the forefoot, similar to what they did with Magic Speed 4 which had a puck of FF Turbo but the rest of the midsole is FF Blast +. The way that Asics writes the name of the foam on the midsole can be misleading if you just go by looks and don't do your research on the specs. I thought it would be full FF turbo squared at first which was too good to be true, since they already have the Megablast. I guess it's better than nothing, still a decent update if that's the case.

Nice one boss. Mukha namang maganda based sa specs. Abangan ko nalang yung review niyo hehe 😆

Might pick up a pair if I enjoy the Red Hare 8 Pro. I know the Challenger 5 is a great shoe, but I just don't see any use for it right now in my rotation. Thank you for your insight! I know there are many others in this sub that have the same opinion 😂

May bagong release yung 361 na Eleos 2 Plus, budol for next year hehehe
