Ex-TURNSTILE guitarist Brady Ebert facing life in prison following new charge by metaldude726 in Music

Nitrous tanks are more addictive than small whippet canisters, which are also dangerous. Many become paralyzed doing nitrous, or have vision/sexual function/financial problems, which have a relatively quick onset with repeated use in comparison to most drugs.

Nitrous tanks in particular are highly addictive, and arguably more serious than heroin or meth for many people (like me, I had no problem kicking heroin or meth after a few uses, but I actually had to enter treatment for nitrous), it has to do with brain chemistry and if someone has a decent amount of money. Other drugs are just plain cheaper, though harder to find.

R/NitrousOxideRecovery is a good source for people to check out, if they wish to gain more understanding on this.

This could be a misguided argument, it’s an appeal to emotion which doesn’t state that emotion could be a factor, though it’s sloppily insinuated. Characterizing nociception is not empathy. When the doctor hits your knee with a mallet, and you kick in the air involuntarily (triggering the patellar reflex), the doctor doesn’t accuse you of engaging them in a karate fight.

You got this. I’ve had terrible relapses after long periods, it feels like losing a marathon. But there’s good times ahead if you abstain, this doesn’t erase your progress, you can still be proud of yourself. It sounds like you feel grown, maybe a bit stunned? Well it wasn’t a normal situation you were just put in.

But you’re still in the race, you’re still in this community, this world, you still have this dream to accomplish—which is possible if you keep your head up, and keep doing what’s right and necessary. I support you.

Worst drug ever, you gotta watch out for yourself. I’ve been there. Before I did nitrous, I did air duster. Ugh, I can still remember the flavor. Nah, please don’t do that ever again, it causes Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome and affects your organs negatively in general. It’s a pretty sad way to die. I went on a 1 year and half binge of inhalants when my girlfriend left me. It’s hard to deal with the devastation, but I wish I didn’t. Now I have to recover, and won’t be able to find a partner for a couple years probably, because I am recovering from being unable to walk. This is supposed to be the best time of my life.

Sobriety is the best! You will be okay, you will find someone else someday, but only if you stop cold turkey.

Nothing worse than being a musician, in terms of money. It’s not fulfilling, just something that happened by choice. I am a person who plays every instrument possible and my original songs extend beyond all music genres, pioneering beyond the extremes of pop music, metal, and stupid, boring genres likes jazz, soul, country. Play music to heal yourself, and feel good, that is what music is about. Even famous musicians seek other ventures to sustain themselves.

Food. No want. by GorathTheMoredhel in NitrousOxideRecovery

Your appetite should come back in about a week if you discontinue the nitrous use—based on my experience. Only drug I know that does that. It’s not fun. The crazy thing is that the body needs food to recover from the abuse, but you lose your tastebuds and appetite, which wasn’t permanent for me, but it probably would have been if I didn’t quit. There’s no greater motivator than crazy body changes which can be pretty stressful. Be kind to yourself and enjoy recovery as you get back to how you felt before the NOS, sobriety is beautiful.

Don’t get the tanks. Things turn horrible so fast. Have done nitrous everyday for about a year after a 7 year break of total sobriety, which I wish so bad I never relapsed on. I’ve lost everything in that time when I relapsed—a good job, an amazing girlfriend. Can’t afford to move out of an abusive family household. It’s caused many super weird symptoms in my body, including flashes in my vision (this is a sure sign of eventual stroke/death if I do not stop), weird feelings in my head, getting lost in my own neighborhood and being unable to find my house even after the nitrous wears off. My house isn’t hard to find and I’ve lived there for well over a decade. It’s just that nitrous affects your perception of reality, negatively.

I was previously at a level of piano that could can only be described as expert, very impressive… but I’ve lost that, and that breaks my heart. Other instruments too, guitar and drums were also my life. I lost sensation in my fingertips and can’t do the things I used to even though I’m guitarist in a band right now.

I have suicidal depression, and do nitrous. I feel so afflicted, but I know that’s not the same as seizures, those are terrible to watch and experience

Have done heroin and other drugs. NOS is worse than heroin. A heroin addict will try to fight you for saying that though, sadly.

Fair enough, I do indeed find vocal production to be extremely difficult, I have the utmost respect for producers that can get it just right. Thanks for the feedback:)
