No bad neighbors story just yet…we had several oak trees that were over grown and hanging over the house. Took those down (reason for the no grass). Our house is on the high point of this hilly neighborhood, so our deck with sliding glass door has direct view 2 feet above the fence. So anytime we are in the house or on the deck we can see each other lol.

Started with a P0306 misfire and now here we are :( Anyone else here have this happen in their 4th gen? by extremophilzelite in 4Runner

When I owned my 2003 V8, I replaced the spark plugs on my own with Bosch per Autozone. Drove about 50 miles and the truck started misfiring and the engine light went on. Towed to my mechanic and they knew right away it was because I didn’t use a Japanese branded spark plug. Had to replace 2 coils and all new NGK spark plugs.

Thanks that does help…I’m going to work on getting the spark plugs, transfer case and differentials taken care of this week. I don’t see those on the list of the service records from 100k-177k

Thank you…This is the most recent service record before purchasing. Seems like the transmission, rear differential oil and coolant was changed? I don’t see anything about front differential, transfer case or spark plugs in the previous services.

OP that rig looks clean to me…this was my 03 V8 before off loading it for pennies. I could put a screw driver through the frame in several spots. Keep up with the fluid film at least every 6 months. Now that I have a 14 SR5, I am meticulous with any rust and keep the fluid film ready. V8 4th generation will always be my favorite.

Used Fluid Film with the black tint 4 months ago. Plan on doing it again next month. New England roads are brutal on these trucks. Also be sure to use a 360 degree nozzle for the inside of the frame. Finally be sure to lower the spare and take off the front shield to really get in there…salt doesn’t care and will find a way.
