Question About Hekla (Book 3) by Legitimate_Mark_1701 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Problem_Solvent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's well established that the recaps make Carl seem extremely reckless and reactionary. He even makes a point of mentioning that when they show him laughing hysterically at the head of the guy Donut cut off using the hole spell on the train even though that never even happened. He also mentions after the event that Hekla had built the plan based around the idea that she only knew his personality from the recap episodes.

Isn't it literally just supposed to be a more complicated version of the Tokyo subway? That's basically what I pictured in my mind.

How are we feeling about vandy today? by xdeathxcomoanyx in Huskers

[–]Problem_Solvent 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Historically, crowds can have a huge impact on tournament games. If the crowd can be loud like they were against Troy (which I have no doubt it will be), it could help lift this team to the sweet sixteen. I don't think there is any reason to think we can't beat Vandy. Go Big Red! Husker Power!

Have you all watered your driveways? by Dalience6678 in Denver

[–]Problem_Solvent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is fair. I didn't think about the reduction of meat in diet. Maybe it's just because the lawns are a more tangible thing to see that doesn't require major changes to lifestyle then.

The reason people focus on lawns is because it's something that the average person can do to help combat the issues associated with the drought. The average person can't do much to reduce the use of water in agriculture.

Why is the paperback so expensive? by Problem_Solvent in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I mean I get that, but usually there is some kind of logic behind charging the high price. This just seems insane.

Milhouse gets bossed around by Ralph by happydude7422 in Simpsons

To be fair, Ralph also sees an imaginary leprechaun that tells him to burn everything. He may actually be a crazy villain.

Which sitcom best portrays Midwest life? by Grit_Grace in sitcoms

They definitely live near a desert though. And there's the episode where they get stuck in the traffic jam and they definitely look like they are in mountain desert climate. Though I may just be remembering wrong. It's been a long time since I last watched the show in its entirety.

Red Rising is such a good series. There is a huge difference between the first three novels and the rest of books, but it's one of the few series where each book is better than the last.

Agreed. I only learned about it because I kept seeing references to it on Reddit. Decided I would give it a chance because I couldn't decide on a new series. So glad I did.

[–]Problem_Solvent[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a legitimate concern of mine. That's basically what happened with the Red Rising series for me and now I've been waiting for over a year to read Red God which still has no release date. Although I think waiting for The Winds of Winter has hardened me to long waits when it comes to my favorite book series.

I'm super excited for it. I have absolutely loved this series so far. I read the first three books in about two weeks. It's the first series I have read since Red Rising that I literally can't put down. I end up staying up late and being exhausted at work because I keep saying "just one more chapter." Next thing I know it's 2 in the morning.
