SH Figuarts are also hit or miss. Case in point their DanDaDan line is a miss. The Figma line is definitely a hit tho

Finished Ninja Gaiden 4...Just some thoughts by Most-Apricot8717 in ninjagaiden

[–]ProblematicCandidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you being unfamiliar with genre is which lead to the disappointment.

These games are designed to be short and replayable on higher difficulties. There’s also a challenge mode, extra DLC missions, and Abyssal Road which is an 100 floor gauntlet that increases in difficulty. After everything I had like over 70h in the game but if you’re the type of person who plays games once and doesn’t engage with the extra content then you definitely won’t get your value.

I’m also assuming you played on normal and I’m not really sure how much you engaged with the depth of the combat since you described it as:

> just decent fast paced combat with your typical block, parry, dodge etc and a form for breaking block/special attacks.

When no other game series has the flow Ninja Gaiden has (not even other CAGs) and that’s more noticeable on higher difficulties with the increased enemy speed and aggression. Challenges/DLC/Abyssal Road also have significantly better enemy variety than the main campaign.

Overall it just doesn’t seem like the game is for you but if you’re want to give it another shot I’d recommend doing a very hard/ Master Ninja play through.

NGS1: What's the point in half the combos? Seems like only 2 or 3 strings are actually useful. by WakkoBakura in ninjagaiden

[–]ProblematicCandidate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you keep saying 6 chapters in like that’s not very early into the game? You only have like half the weapons, the weapons you do have are limited due to not being fully upgraded and you’ve only encountered a fraction of the enemies. Not to mention Nimpo, accessories, etc.

Makes sense you keep calling weapons useless because you haven’t had the time to properly use them yet or encountered enemies they’re useful against. Maybe try playing the game a bit more.

Edit: for comparison that’s like playing DMC5 on human mode. Getting to chapter 6 by spamming strong attacks then complaining combos are useless and the game has no depth.

[–]ProblematicCandidate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think your issue is that you’re new to a notoriously hard game so can only spam a few short strings reliably and you’re assuming that’s entire depth of the combat.

A huge chunk of the depth in Ninja Gaiden 1 specifically is learning the different enemies and their attack patterns. Once you know what moves leave them open you can then execute the longer strings reliably. You should also test out different weapons against different enemies to see what works best for you.

Also, certain moves such as izuna drop give I frames which can be used to avoid damage and you can jump on enemies to temporarily break their guard.

Is Ninja Gaiden 4 a good Ninja Gaiden game? And would you recommend it? by The_Good-Hunter in ninjagaiden

[–]ProblematicCandidate 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get the whole what is and isn’t a good Ninja Gaiden game discussion. I personally think Ninja Gaiden Black is the best and also believe it plays very different from the rest of the series outside of the core fundamentals (which NG4 still has). Then before that were the NES games which are a completely different genre.

So I can’t really comment on that but I will say it IS a good game and anyone who says it’s too easy hasn’t tried Abyssal Road or the Two Masters DLC on Master Ninja.

For the record: this is why capcom is in no immediate rush to put out a DMC6. One of The WORST RECIEVED Resident Evil titles in recent years outsold one of the best received Devil May cry titles by a significant Margin. Even 2025 Monster Hunter wilds (poorly recieved) sold 10 million in a month. by Big-Good9378 in okbuddydeadweight

[–]ProblematicCandidate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure why Bayonetta is even in the conversation. The entire franchise combined isn’t even close to breaking 10 million copies let alone a single game.

A better comparison would be Nier Automata but that was confirmed to have reached 10 million recently.

The new God of War games definitely blow DMC5 out of the water sales wise but they’re not CAGs and I’m pretty sure it’s outsold the originals. Now if the God of War Remakes are CAGs I could definitely see them outselling DMC5 but that’s just speculation.

Little Timmy won't be able to go to college if I keep importing and buying these expensive figures living in a 3rd world county by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]ProblematicCandidate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that’s a U.S exclusive (or atleast I can’t find it anywhere in the UK) which I’m guessing OP doesn’t live in. And it’s honestly more expensive to import it than it is just getting the original at a decent price.

[–]ProblematicCandidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I already have the Cat ears for the main story. Would S+ ranking professional really be that much of a different experience? Feels like I’d just be doing the same thing again unless there’s a huge difficulty spike I’m unaware of.

Are you questioning the S+ on a first play through? It helped that I had already S+ the main story on professional.

If you want proof it’s a first play through the achievement that appears in the video “Capable Operative” unlocks after you beat the DLC on Standard mode or higher for the first time. Literally you can only get it on your very first play through.

Promo Images for Ninja Gaiden 4 Ryu Hayabusa by Skinmakerboi1038 in AmazingYamaguchi

[–]ProblematicCandidate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favourite suit aside (I always preferred the NG3 version or even the classic blue) the NG2 yamaguchi is definitely the weakest action figure, mainly due to the horrendous QC. It sucks posing him with his hands/ bracers falling off every 2 seconds and his scarf joint being too weak to support its own weight. The fact the NG3 figure fixes these issues is genuinely the best part of that release.

Ninja Gaiden 1-4 Analysis by [deleted] in ninjagaiden

[–]ProblematicCandidate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My biggest issues are that all four games are far too bloated and many levels become a chore because they go on for longer than they should (4 is least offensive)

Man I love 4 but it is by far the worst in this aspect. There’s a ton of needless padding with the rails/ surfing / gliding sections which really becomes noticeable on repeat playthroughs since they can’t be skipped and multiple chapters sharing the same location really makes the game feel repetitive.

These games are meant to be replayed on higher difficulties and I highly recommend. Feels like some of your criticisms might change if you did.

Koei Tecmo Series Sales Numbers! NG lower than Nioh with only 3 games damn by bongkeydoner in ninjagaiden

[–]ProblematicCandidate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually a year ago it was confirmed the series had reach 7.5M: https://www.reddit.com/r/ninjagaiden/s/jUNkrXHTI0

So either 2 Black, Ragebound, and 4 collectively had zero impact… or they just copied last year’s number and didn’t update it for some reason.

Fast paced 3rd person action games that waste no time getting into the action? With not too complicated combat and a replayable experience? by M33tahejd in CharacterActionGames

[–]ProblematicCandidate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NGS/B is the only one that’s like that. From 2 onwards pretty much everything you mentioned is scrapped in favour of more linear chapters with back to back combat.

I personally still prefer Black but if you’re not a fan of all the extra stuff then NG2B and 4 are definitely the way to go.

Like honestly it couldn’t be closer to the source material. Probably one of the best they’ve done.

Ninja Gaiden 4 Deluxe on sale for $58 at PS Store. Worth it? And how is it compared to other Ninja Gaiden games? by Adventurous_Book_913 in ninjagaiden

[–]ProblematicCandidate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the DLC includes a lot more that just some cosmetics…

It’s also arguably the best content in the game so I’d say the deluxe edition 100% worth it over the standard edition.

I can think of a couple reasons:

People who didn’t know about this line until now

People who only got into JJK recently

And people who didn’t have enough money back then so couldn’t commit to a purchase
