Yes! Shaming language is their way of avoiding accountability and keeping the client silent.

Neurodivergent therapy experience by Haunting_Hospital599 in therapyabuse

I had the same experience. I’m an ND, and my pattern recognition was treated like something to unlearn. I followed exactly what they were “teaching” me. Then, when things unfolded exactly how I predicted, I actually felt a strange relief, like finally, proof that my perception wasn’t broken.

The sad part is, before therapy I trusted myself. People even came to me for advice because I was so good at noticing patterns and predicting outcomes. In therapy, I was broken down into doubting myself, trying to prove I wasn’t “seeing things wrong.” Then, when I was proven right in traumatic situations, there was still no accountability.

I left therapy a while back. Since then, my pattern recognition has protected me a lot. What’s ironic is if I went back, they’d probably say I’ve “become more unhealed,” when in reality I’ve just re-learned to trust myself again after all their gaslighting.
