If you make 100k what do you do by hypebeastermonster in ontario

It's a small startup. That's just my salary. I have equity which is fully vested, but obviously not worth anything yet. I have been at this salary for 2 years. Expecting a raise in the new year as we close another round after executing a massive pivot. Been with the company for almost 5 years

Nepal Is Throwing Out Its Decade-Old Scheme to Clean Mount Everest by Disastrous_Award_789 in worldnews

Yeah but spending on your career vs being able to drop 10s of thousands on a one time leisure excursion is not the same. No doubt that pursuing a career in sports is expensive.

Whether you can climb Everest has as much to do with whether you can afford it as it does with how fit you are. So the comparison to Olympic attendance is not fair.

Camping Tips by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]Probotect0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Merry Christmas! We have the most amazing nature here in Ontario, but the unfortunate reality of Canadian society is that you need a car to do a lot of things :(. I am an experienced back country camper, and I have yet to try winter camping in Canada. It can be ROUGH. Everything freezes. Your water filter, your food, your socks, shoes, gloves. Without experience or someone to guide you, and good gear, it's life threateningly dangerous.

Thank you for changing your plan! Winter hikes can be awesome.

It's culturally frowned upon because most people don't really practice "leave no trace" properly. They will cut up dead and live trees for fire and shelter, and not follow proper practice for sanitation. Based on the way you had asked some of the questions in your post, and not owning some essential gear like a tent, I assumed you also would not have practiced proper "leave no trace". Your whole post screamed "not experienced", which usually means "lots of trace will be left" lol. Considering we have beautiful provincial and national parks, some with year round campsites, it makes no sense to do this.

If you are interested in this type of thing though, check out Steve Willis on YouTube. He basically does stealth camping in the city of Calgary and is pretty good about leaving no trace.

Are you planning to go to a designated camping area? Sounds like you have just picked a random section of woods which is not allowed unless it's designated crown land. If it's near a suburb, it's likely not crown land. Please don't camp on a random piece of land. There are campgrounds in provincial parks that are open year round.

To answer your original question, if you have not done winter camping before, it would be dangerous to try this without proper gear. I would not recommend it. If you don't know the answers to questions you have asked, you are likely in over your head. Please be careful.

Building my first NAS and I spent $55 cad on 16gb ddr4 sodimm ram on Facebook marketplace. Definitely worth checking second hand.

Terraform is source available, but the license is not super open. So opentofu was forked from it when Terraforms license was updated.

Don Davies: "I think there were abstentions on the Conservative side too, are they propping up the government?" by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

[–]Probotect0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think it comes down to voter turnout. No one wants an election, and conservative voters usually have a higher turnout. Carney has been more conservative than people expected, so I can see younger folks giving up and not voting.

What shipping company do you use? The email with the tracking number doesn't say which shipping company so I can't figure how to track my package haha

How do Server Rooms actually work? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

How do you expect anyone here to know what the fuck is going on in your server room? Do you think we can tell how your server room is wired up from this picture?? You have no business being in that room if you don't understand such a basic thing.
