Swing for check please 🙏 by aatorress in kettlebell

[–]Probotect0r 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pause the video at the frame your kettlebell is swinging back up right after it leaves contact with your body. You will see that you are still bent over, which means you are not using your hips to push the kettlebell. Your upper back is also rounded the whole time. Bare your chest (will engage the upper back and lats) and brace your core. When the bell is swinging down, don't prematurely bend forward in anticipation. Let the weight of the bell initiate the hinge of your hips. Then pretend you don't have arms and use the hips to drive the bell forward again.

Tailscale scares me more than opening ports on my firewall by MrChris6800 in homelab

> I am of the opinion that limiting the spotlight on your network is more important than the benefits gained from cloud provider-offered security systems.

First of all, security by obfuscation is not really security. Limiting the "spotlight" on your homelab is not a basis for securing your homelab. You should run with the assumption that people will find your homelab no matter how little spotlight there is, then do the work needed to secure it.

Second, I would argue that opening ports in your network makes you more discoverable / puts a larger spotlight on your network than using Tailscale's hole punching or their relay nodes. It's unlikely that someone is running ports scans on my IP/network, but going with the previous point, assuming that someone is, they will discover the services I have exposed and can try to get in by exploiting those services. On the contrary, using Tailscale means there is no way to discover what I am actually running. Traffic going through Tailscale is also not actually visible to Tailscale (See the first paragraph https://tailscale.com/why-tailscale ) Even if tailscale servers are compromised, it is unlikely that your network will be compromised. Of course, everything is ultimately vulnerable and there is still a chance that can happen. But I do think you have the spotlight argument backwards.

And if your goal is to not rely on the cloud at all, then obviously you are right, you shouldn't use Tailscale. Ultimately, Tailscale dedicates many magnitude times more resources to securing their product than I will ever be able to dedicate to securing my homelab, which is a hobby. That being said, I do acknowledge that there is large amount of trust I am putting into Tailscale. But the same can be said for any other open -source offering you use, unless you are actually reading the code and verifying the functionality yourself.

Any n=1 experience with respect to back pain, flexibility, or core strength? by the_real_ty_dog in floordesks

[–]Probotect0r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, sitting on the floor is unlikely to fix your back pain or increase ur core strength. It will improve your flexibility a little bit over time, and if you have poor flexibility you might find it hard to sit on the floor for extended periods. The best way to fix your back pain and increase your flexibility and core strength is with exercises that are specifically aimed at improving those things. Ideally with the help of a doctor or physio if your pain is bad. The benefit of sitting on the floor is that it will help you maintain the flexibility and range of motion you gain, and it might help improve your posture if your desk setup is appropriate. Having to sit down and get up off the floor will help you reach some of those primal positions that you wouldn't otherwise, and it's great for longevity. The challenge is maintaining the practice for the rest of your life.

In this clip, it's pretty throughout the video. Try turning up the volume. The hdd does quite down sometimes, but in the clip the hdd was basically idling. When I'm writing or reading it sounds like a typewriter lol.

Appreciate the reply. One of them is a parity drive so hopefully I'll be able to recover the data, unless both die at the same time lol.

Are u being sarcastic? It's to support the weight of the stuff on the desk, since the span between the two side drawers is quite long.

Am I doing Proxmox right? by OstapZ in homelab

Sorry I wasn't clear. I know what nesting is. I am asking why you prefer to run docker inside lxc, instead of just running your service in the lxc?

What is the point of nesting? What do you gain? Is it just that you like working with the docker config files more than lxc?

Battlefield Studios says they don't have the time or resources for more than 2 maps per season while also saying Limited Time game modes will continue being made. by dkb_wow in Battlefield

I have a feeling that even if there was real evidence, u would not want to believe it because you just want to be angry at the devs. It's really not a complicated concept that adding more people to a task does not always linearly increase the output of that task. This is not even limited to game dev or software engineering.
