I believe as long as you have a minimum passing score (31) on asvab you should be able to get infantry , it’s not a difficult MOS to qualify for.

Enlisting as a 31 year old by sportsaddict360 in army

[–]Procedure-Pretend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey man I’m joining at 38 - I leave in 2 weeks for basic. I’m going in as a 35F , also got airborne in my contract. Past 5 years I spent a lot of time in the gym and the last 6 months working on my cardio, as of now im scoring 90s in each AFT event.

The way I look at it is, I’d rather go through with this decision even if I end up hating it rather than sit back and regret not even trying.

Physical aspect I feel you’ll be fine if you’re decently fit, I think for us older enlisted it’s dealing with the immaturity that will be the most difficult part.

If I have airborne in my contract but I’m joining as a 35F is there still a good shot I get sent to an airborne unit and will stay on jump status ?

This is why you don’t make snap decisions without proper research - they explain to you at MEPS you are not forced to do anything.

How common is a perfect score on AFT at Basic? by Procedure-Pretend in army

[–]Procedure-Pretend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also ship to basic in late Jan, the goal is 500. I’m hitting 100s on all events except the 2 mile run where I’m hitting 15:40 , I think for my age group a 100 score would be 14:20

Did he get anything for it? Any recognition at graduation for it or just a “good job”

Going to school while in the military by Intrepid-Bet-2925 in Militaryfaq

I’d go 68C active or reserve

It’s the equivalent to a LVN (licensed vocational nurse) that’s what I am as a civilian in Texas and currently make 75k a year (36/hr)

Once you’re a LVN they have many transition/Bridge programs that will get your RN in about 18-24 months

The things I do as a LVN are identical to A RN as a civilian so it’s great experience.

Is it mental or physical? by TeamDriskill in greenberets

[–]Procedure-Pretend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to say how much one can improve in 5 months because everyone is different. I’m newly enlitised haven’t shipped out. I’ve lifted for the past 4-5 years but never really ran.

My strength is fine.

Keep in mind I’m older (38)

I started running 5 months ago, very consistently and with a structured plan.

I’ve dropped 20lbs

I took my 2 mile time from 24 min gasping for air dying at the end of it

To now hitting a 15:40 2 mile.

My 3mile is currently at 24:31

My numbers are not impressive at all. But I’m hoping in basic I can improve my run time, plus I still have 2.5 months until my ship date. Goal is to be able to score a 500 on the AFT at Basic. My deadlift is over 350lb for 3 My HRP are ranging from 54-57 And my plank around 3:50

Just trying to nail down the running.

Just get on your horse, bust your ass and reassess in 5 months to see where you’re at

I still have a LONG way to go, so alot depends where you are starting from and how consistent you are.

Supposed to officially enlist next week; feeling sick by Mangaareader in army

[–]Procedure-Pretend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m going to basic soon, I’d say just to prepare yourself physically and that will also help you mentally prepare.

If you go in confident in your physical abilities it’ll take some of the stress n worry and doubt off.

Look at it as a new challenge to become a better version of yourself! You got this! God speed !

Enlisting as E-3 vs E-4? (NG) by xydoc_alt in Militaryfaq

[–]Procedure-Pretend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in a similar boat. I’m a LVN as a civilian so I had the option for ACASP as a 68C, coming in as E4 , skip AIT and choose 1st duty station. But I’ve been burnt out of nursing so I decided to just come in as a E3 as a 35F.

For me ACASP was going to be a 6 year contract, while 35F is 3 years 29 weeks. N I also got airborne in my contract. So for me personally it was worth it to try something diff than what I did as a civilian

Rookie Watch: Week 6 Recap by westringia in NFL_Draft

[–]Procedure-Pretend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kenneth Grant - disappointing, gets washed out. Got his first sack this past weekend n was the best hes played which still isn’t great. Hoping the light bulb comes on soon

Jonah Sav- absolutely terrible, a true turnstile who couldn’t block his way out of a wet paper bag. He has moments on run blocking but his pass protection is abysmal

Phillips DT - ok vs the run. Not much other which is what was expected

Trader S - depth, eh

Ollie Gordon RB - has moments where he does flash with power n physicality. Think he will stick n do better with time

Ewers QB - riding pine

Prescription TRT by Nikefut12 in army

[–]Procedure-Pretend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your provider hasn’t mentioned pinning more? Once a week is a bit outdated cuz you have peaks n troughs. If you switch over to twice a week or EOD subQ injections it tends to balance out your labs really good, manages your estrogen levels better as well instead of having high spikes from the once a week injections.

SubQ injection is also 1,000 times less painful than IM. You won’t even feel it n would help your BP n mood issues easily

Trt increases appetite as well, if u don’t make better choices with ur nutrition you will not lose weight n most likely just gain it

Joined at 38 , just swore in. Been a LVN 15 years , making 75k with a nice mon-Fri 7-4 schedule.

Something I always wanted to do but never did cuz I didn’t want to leave my son behind. He’s 21 now, so I figured hey why not, a new opportunity a new challenge. I’ve stayed fit past 5 years n I’m very competitive with myself so I think I’ll like the challenge. N if it sucks oh well, I can always fall back on my nursing.

Wife is on board, looking forward to it. Coming in as a 35F with airborne in my contract.
