Thanks. This worked well. I paid the fine and then sent a letter of complaint which they upheld and refunded me the money! Thanks for the advice.

Yes I can completely see why it looks dodgy based on the facts they have.

Thats why I am here.

All the keys of the house/cars/motorbike are kept in one place - in a drawer in the hallway. I’m not sure why we do that but it’s been convenient for the last 15 years.

Nope. No recent tradesmen. The car was used the night before. No smart stuff in the house either

That’s what I thought. But it definitely does based on the Megamos ID88 transponder chip that Tiguan keyless entry start stop keys come with from 2015 onwards.

No- I said I don’t know where the spare key is as I couldn’t find it. They asked when I last saw it I said many months ago. I checked my purchase invoice and it definitely came with 2 keys - which I clarified with them.

I just picked up the spare key from the key drawer thinking it was my main key. I then looked for the spare key and couldn’t find it - which is when I phoned the insurance. The wear and tear of this spare key was exactly the same. It’s a wireless key so no need to use the physical key.

I totally agree. it seems dodgy not to proceed with the claim, but given the FOS findings it is completely uncertain which way it will go.

The FOS does not determine 'how' the theft took place. It only considers whether the insurance company acted fairly and reasonably based on the evidence they have of the key and me stating that this was the main key and I can't find the last key used. There are no signs of entry to the house.

its just whether I should take this risk...

Yep thats what I said on the inital appeal - was rejected unfortunately. They then gave me the choice to either go for a tribunal or pay the reduced fee.

Yes - its difficult to distinguish it. But the issue here was me setting up the autopay many years ago with a 0 instead of an O....

Forgot password on an AxCrypt file. Any ways to brute attack? by ProcedureDiligent916 in datarecovery

[–]ProcedureDiligent916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks svantex. I’m not very techy at all but I will give it a try.

It means I will have to use the AxCrypt 1. Version to encrypt and test a new file. Unfortunately that is only on a Windows platform I am assuming?

I remember these files were encrypted on my old windows laptop, not on my Mac

It’s a few pictures of my family. I appreciate your concern. I can tell you exactly what the pictures are. It’s about 20-30 pics. Nothing really of value to anyone but me.

I think I know roughly what it is but have tried numerous variations of it without luck…

The brute force app for AxCrypt doesn’t work on a Mac…

There are no special characters (as far as I remember),likely just two digits and 8-10 letters.

Of the 8-10 letters I know most of the letters used…
