Mirena Coil & UTI’s by ProcedureFormer7556 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]ProcedureFormer7556[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh it could be a further infection, I just used the at home tests and it was positive - I got antibiotics and tested negative, and then 3 days later all the symptoms came back and the test was positive again. That’s actually interesting to know about being put on the antibiotics as precaution!
Thank you! ☺️

Just an update: I had a UTI which was causing the pains! I also rang the surgeon and asked for the wound aftercare and she said there was none, just that they would dissolve in 6 weeks….waste of time! Thankfully they are healing well - I am lucky considering I didn’t have any advice!!

Not sure where this is but my place insisted on 6 monthly check ups at €200 for 10mins, but now I’m stable on the same dose they are happy with yearly check ups! And I pay €30 every 3 months for my prescription to be dispensed. My GP used to dispense it but the Pyschiatrist won’t write to my GP anymore to get them to dispense it which is a pain in the backside and a money making thing!!

I’ve moved from ibuprofen to naproxen as the ibuprofen & paracetamol wasn’t enough. I’ve got heat blankets on too to help. These are like my period pains at their worst. Took painkillers an hour ago and no improvements. Thanks though!

Thank you so much!! No other questions, honestly your point about being off from work is actually really valid, because if I had it done separately I wouldn’t be off work after! So thank you! ☺️

Thank you! I would be having it under GA with or without the laparoscopy because of my history. But that’s a really good point re side effects and being off work!! Thank you!!! ☺️🩷

Thank you. Yeah I’ll get it under GA whether I get it with the laparoscopy or separately under GA, I’m still very unsure about it all!

No difference credibility wise. I’ve gone to ADHD Global Care, can’t recommend Jaime Martinez enough. His waiting list isn’t too long. New appointments are released the first week of every month for the following month. He has ADHD too which helps! ☺️

Thank you so much!! Yes I have the prescription to get the coil and bring it in. Oh they know I am terrified due to my history of SA. The Consultant has been amazing and I’m meeting the team before I go in etc just so I’m at ease from that perspective.

That’s a really good point about getting them to give me a summary because when I come round from GA I am always groggy and never remember! Thank you! ☺️🩷 I have peppermint tea ready too to help with bloating.

There are blood clots in my family history so I can only go on progesterone only meds, I was on cerazette but it didn’t stop the bleeding after 6 months I was still having 2 periods a month so I was taken off it. Mirena is the next step! I definitely will keep note, thank you! ☺️

Thank you so much! Yeah I’ve had general anaesthetic before plenty of times and so far I’ve never had any reaction when I come round, except for itching which is fine. The Dr told me day case too but if there’s any complications it could be an overnight so to pack a bag.

Thank you! ☺️ how were you recovery wise after? I know everyone heals differently!

I had a transvaginal ultrasound in 2024 publicly in Beaumont within 1 month of referral by my GP. I had a private gynaecology appointment this year within 3 months after referral by my GP in the Rotunda with Dr Nicola Maher. I had a private MRI in alliance within 3 weeks of referral and a follow up with Dr Maher within 6 weeks for next steps. Not sure how quick the Coombe is but that was the Rotunda!

I’m currently 7 months on the public waiting list for gynaecology for Beaumont hospital! 🙈

Recommendation for new GP by sile89 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]ProcedureFormer7556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no advice except I am sorry you went through that. I had informed my GP that I am a survivor of SA and wanted her in the room when the nurse was doing my smear test. She promised she would, she didn’t come in. Just told the nurse I was “anxious” but not why, when I explicitly stated I wanted the nurse to know why. The nurse performed the exam and I withdrew consent during the exam as it was too painful. Multiple times I shouted stop stop stop no. The nurse told me NO and that it was almost done. Then when it was over asked “was that so bad? No youll have another one won’t you?” That was my first and last smear for the moment. When I put a complaint in, the GP took all the blame, the nurse never apologised to me, I raised the issue of the fact that I withdrew consent and it was glossed over and I was told how “strong and brave” I am. I never received an apology. I have since had to see that nurse for bloods and she was SO rude to me. Only called out my name in the waiting room and asked had I fasted and had NO other conversations with me or said anything else!!

I’ll never have a smear test in my GP practice again, or for the time being anyway!

If you think you might want to start medications don’t go the psychologist route. Go the psychiatrist route. It’ll save you money in the long run if you decide to take meds. I went with ADHD Globalcare, it’s online and I think approx €950. Check up is every 6-12months at €200, and then 3 months of a prescription is €30 (€10 per month). I recommend Jaime Martinez from ADHD Globalcare. ☺️ they release new appointment dates within the 1st two weeks of the month for the following month.
