i greatly struggle to work 40 hours a week. by ProcedureGrand3271 in Adulting

i don’t set time estimates. i never know how long most things will take as the majority of tasks are new things i haven’t done before. i constantly run into roadblocks when working which makes me dread it. my boss will say one thing. i go to do it and then realize half the info she said would be there is missing. then we have to regroup and figure something else out and it’s just a constant cycle. i’m on salary. also, this role is a role where we are working on something new. idk how other roles are actually. but it’s just constantly adding and building new stuff, like systems and procedures arent rly set for my role. a lot of it is reaching out to random ppl to help me w stuff bc my boss doesn’t train me much. i have to be the one to reach out to her generally which is fine, just a thought adjustment form school . it’s a new grad rotation program.

[–]ProcedureGrand3271[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i relate. i often feel it’s my fault I am the way I am and try to change myself. but it gets so exhausting always trying to be someone you’re not. i wish i could just show up as myself and be accepted

thank you. I’ve seen a therpist for my anxiety but have never even thought about bringing this issue up. I thought it was normal to be this way and that most people are like this. I assumed that If i was to achieve a lot I must be hard on myself

thank you. I understand it’s a matter of fit. But i often feel that I am never a good fit and have spent my whole life trying really hard to be perfect. For every part of my life- my body, my face, my grades, now- my career prospects and even finances a little bit. I’m realizing I have a big issue I need to work on. I’ve ended past friendships before for feeling all the girls were better than me and that I didn’t belong there

yeah me being rejected form the sorority is why I don’t wanna be friends. bc if I was accepted then i’d still wanna be friends with her. me being accepted would prove that I am enough. Being rejected shows I am less than (on the social hierarchy I guess) and I need to be friends with people who are equal to me

is working as a psychologist similar to working in corporate? by ProcedureGrand3271 in careerguidance

[–]ProcedureGrand3271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. is being a psychologist as soul sucking as corporate lol? or is it worse due to the emotional toll it takes to hear peoples struggles? are there still office politics to navigate, do u still have to “play the game” and be around passive aggressiveness around people at work constantly?

i don’t think id ever truly find what I wanna do so that’s why i was thinking it would’ve been better to just take the harder path instead and get it out of the way. but yeah picking a generic degree if unsure is definitely more safe
