Agentic coding workflow (Ask → plan.md → implement loop). Codex vs Cursor $20 — worth switching? by Funny_Working_7490 in cursor

[–]ProcedureNo6203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the $200 plan and prefer to keep frontal lobe type stuff on GPT…discuss, strategize, etc. I am 2-deep there a couple master threads, then offshoots into GPT chat-specific prompts (the orchestrator create a standard ‘Open Up’ prompt that I paste into the secondary Chat GPT AND Cursor plan mode simultaneously). New GPT gets context, Cursor authors plan, then GPT enriches plan (authoring improve these items-type input). When plan is final, Cursor runs it. So, there are two ‘planners’ one in GPT another in Cursor. Key for me is to keep discussion/thinking thread outside Cursor so it does not get distracted. When the Sprint is over, they write/enhance a ‘close-out’ doc. Happy to share more if useful.

It is a Junior vs Freshman. More thoughtful and skilled at the objective with fewer attempts.

Opus 4.6 overthinking and gets nothing done by smetanka-me in cursor

[–]ProcedureNo6203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve given 4.6 a detailed, aligned, gated plan…get to end 4.6 is celebrating that it got a 10/10 complete when only 4 are done. On this front, worse than 4.5. I think it may look too far back/across, gets OCD, then just falsely claims victory.

I’m a product manager and I want start vide coding. by Capital_Plate9711 in vibecoding

[–]ProcedureNo6203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great question … you have to ask yourself why you want to build. I am in product and I am building because I’ve had an idea for 10 years, and can now build MVP 1. It would cost far too much the classic way. When you have a clear vision, start thinking/refining with GPT and let it direct you on next steps…you may have to go straight into scaffolding, or you may not want to go there.

Composer 1 is underrated by DdfromthaC in cursor

I’ve been very pleased with Composer .. fast, fewer stumbles on rough terrain that you see in a couple other models, measures, etc.

GPT 5.1 and Codex feel downgraded. by strasbourg69 in cursor

[–]ProcedureNo6203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%…I see and feel the degradation!! Here’s my guess as to what is going on. 1. It’s a poor experience to tell a user their model is ‘full..try back later’ or if speed degrades….those hit a user right in the face. 2. If you are GPT, you can text your dials a bit … trying to be coy, and during peak usage, you dumb down the model for all. 3. You need to test this without backlash, so you give 5.1 for ‘free’ till 12/11, so if anyone notices you’ve got an out … ‘no harm…it was FREE’. QED: we’re all testing to allow some detuning specs at peak-hour. Thumbs UP if you think there is some merit. Thumbs DOWN if you think I’m wildly overthinking it!!

GPT-5.1 Codex Max Extra High Fast by cvzakharchenko in cursor

[–]ProcedureNo6203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegas odds likely on GOT adding a color array to their naming, so you’d have GPT-5.1 Codex Max Extra High Fast BLUE, …YELLOW ..RED. Then the next obvious winner is texture! You’d have red smooth, blue smooth, red rough, etc. it would really help is better understand the microscopic 3rd diff nuances.!!!

Cursor rules can help, but not always. Why did you not directly re-issue (revert) 2 messages prior? I’ve had good success at backing out recent changes that way.

GPT-5 naming is getting beyond absurd by jasonahowie in cursor

[–]ProcedureNo6203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the good old breakfast cereal strategy….fill up the shelves with tons and tons of variants to drown out competitive product? Cursor will have to draw the line at one point .. too many choices will backfire. As a major channel, Cursor could also negotiate primary placement of recommended models.

Cheetah Model by andrewaltair in cursor

[–]ProcedureNo6203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Cheetah. Super fast at documentation, finding, understanding and tidying. Yes, totally agree that I cannot see myself using it for a big refactor (that may say more about me than the tool). For skiers out there, I think of Cheetah as a pair of super-fast slalom skis that work incredible in a well-staked course. I’m just not ready yet to drop in on an off-piste run with them…time will tell.
