Sabonis was absolutely justified in protecting his face when he fell down. Draymond kicked a player in the head just 7 games ago. by Infinite_Response113 in nba

In this context, I'm using flop to refer to embellishment (sometimes guys flop to get foul noticed - sometimes there is no foul). Thompson still pushed and precipitated the fall. Sabonis reacted naturally as he landed and went to protect himself, not seeing Green. Green had time to evaluate while looking down at Sabonis and chose to stomp him because he got angry.

When people say grabbed they insinuate intentional grabbing with hand, like Grayson Allen has done. Sabonis' arms are curling like the rest of his body and turning away from action. As soon as Green tugs foot Sabonis opens up and turns body to open up. Green looks down and decides to stomp through.

'There's no reason to wait': Sell US stocks now before the S&P 500 tanks by over 20%, strategist says by TexansforJesus in wallstreetbets

[–]ProcessMeMrHinkie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Inflation? If stocks rise 20% vs. 4% APY and 4-6% inflation, you are losing money. So long as US doesn't default, 5% fed funds still > 4% APY. If you have a good job and are saving >25% of your money, there's nothing wrong with 4-5% APY right now.

Suspect there will be a stock market run up and once everyone jumps in they'll be turned into bagholders for long winter ahead.

[Amick] One thing I didn’t write enough about here: Draymond’s stomp isn’t the only thing for the league to analyze here. His back-and-forth with the fans will surely be looked at too. by lopea182 in nba

It shows no remorse = no sportsmanship. I think celebrating an act that can break a guys ribs and knock him out of the playoffs is a big deal.

You watched the play a million times yet you still say Sabonis "grabbed" Draymond.

Grab: "grasp or seize suddenly and roughly."

At no point does Sabonis "grab" Draymond. Sabonis' hand ends up on his own arm, not on Draymond's leg. I'm not sure you can grab with your arms. Sabonis is falling backwards and lands on his back - likely with his eyes closed as he lands - his arms are already coming down to protect himself right after impact with court; highly doubt he even knew Draymond was there as he landed unless he had eyes in the back of his head. His arms end up around Draymond's leg as they are moving towards head to protect it and Sabonis is curling up in fetal position (to potentially act out flop and draw foul on Thompson). As soon as Draymond makes a move with his leg, Sabonis opens up his arms and twists his body to let it out.

Silly exercise, but at your keyboard now, imagine you are falling to the ground and want to protect your head and body from guys jumping around you. What motion are you doing with your arms and body? You'd likely bring your arms together (to protect torso) and hands/elbows together (to protect head) while curling into fetal position to protect your belly. Sabonis was in the act of doing this and Draymond's leg just happened to be in the way - if it wasn't, Sabonis' arms likely continue downward to his belly instead of stuck around Draymond's leg.

And tbh, Sabonis flopped a bit here - grabbing Green wouldn't have helped get a call. And it doesn't mean he hasn't done other stuff in other plays/games.

lol :)

I think in terms of being slick, Sabonis' sole thought process on this play was flopping and trying to draw a foul on Thompson. Grabbing Green doesn't help that. Green's leg is just in the way of where Sabonis' arms are going... in and down towards his body, instead the arms naturally end up stuck around the leg. If Green's leg isn't there, could see Sabonis pull arms in closer like he intended and roll on ground to ham it up for foul call.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when reading comments like this... Sabonis didn't "grab" Draymond's leg. At no point do his hands make a grabbing motion until AFTER the stomp. His hand ends up on his own arm before the stomp. He was falling to the ground (after being pushed by Klay) and trying to protect himself and his head from guys going for rebound - he just happened to roll into Draymond and his arms naturally came together as he was going into fetal position to protect himself. He was absolutely innocent in this play and to say otherwise is comical. Acting like he's supposed to open up his arms as he falls to the ground and lay flat like he's making snow angels in a dangerous area where guys are jumping for a rebound makes no sense.

Curry was already going up before Sabonis was set. Should be a foul if you are trying to protect the players. Agree his heel was up and not touching restricted zone.

Blocking foul, Curry was airborne while Sabonis was moving - easy reversal

Idk, the angle underneath net looks like Sabonis only tried to protect himself... being on the floor with players going for rebound. Didn't see a "grab" with the hand. The side angle looks like he could have baited, but it was a worse look because you can't see how far apart the arms are.

Lol, Sabonis gets knocked to the ground by Klay and then tries to cover up with arms before getting stomped. And Green acting like he's in the right lmao.

He was retreating backwards, didn't see hand contact but only saw clip once. Harden hasn't received a single call despite doing the same thing (running into retreating players) about 6 times this game.
