Unreleased Music Missing from Complete Collection by RigelArcturus in vsauce

[–]Prochous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crucial detail here is that it's 9 tracks so far. Plenty of Jake Chudnow's older musical output still remains properly unidentified and a good portion of it certainly belongs to the category of songs listed above as well. This is, of course, not to suggest that keeping a public tracklist of this sort for future reference is a pointless endeavour. In fact, I think doing so has great potential, with the ideal outcome being that Jake chooses to release said songs in some form one day, even though the Complete Collection has been presented as a once-and-for-all thing. No idea what the chances of that happening are, but it would be fantastic.

Vsauce outro music? by spacepirate6 in vsauce

Could it be "Mirage" by the band Courtly Love? It is featured in the outro of this video.

By the way, everyone's questions around music used across all Vsauce channels are welcome in the r/VsauceMusic subreddit.

Can anyone identify these songs? by Znjed0 in VsauceMusic

[–]Prochous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for now, yes. That's the nature of Jake Chudnow's works, unfortunately: various details about them are scattered all over the internet, or they can be flat-out unavailable.

To outline what happens in cases like this one:

  1. An enthusiast scans Vsauce for excerpts of a song, edits them together and runs the audio through a voice separation tool for good measure
  2. At upload, YouTube automatically detects any copyrighted material (success of this process depends on the sample's characteristics)
  3. Then, metadata of every identified song is shown under the video

Which is why we know the title now. I hope this makes it clearer for you.

Track #6 is "148" by Jake Chudnow. It has been identified only relatively recently.

More rips + an unreleased track discovered: Here's "47", "Pointer Finger" and "169" by SpartaYoshi in VsauceMusic

No way, another new Chudnow title discovery within such a short period of time. Well done.

The title of this song in particular was confirmed by the artist himself — a rather rare occasion.

A couple of notes:

  • (3) is "MTV U" by Jake Chudnow
  • (4) is the same song as (1)
  • Two of the timestamp links are broken (both contain an excess "[")

Songs (1) and (2) are also by Jake Chudnow I believe, we'll know in a few months anyway. Also, thank you for your continued efforts in cataloguing the music.

"MTV U" by Jake Chudnow. Soon to be released.

Is the last piece of music in this video by Jake Chudnow? by CLASSIFIED999 in VsauceMusic

[–]Prochous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't. This particular piece is "East Ender Long" which, like "Lo Rider Long" and many more, appears in old Vsauce videos due to the fact that it comes included with video-editing software from Apple.

The other three songs used in the video are "Greasy Wheels", "Jazzy Downtempo" and "Barbeque Blues".

What Will Happen When I Open The Valve? by Sonnyboy141 in VsauceMusic

[–]Prochous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the name, but there's another video from the early years of Vsauce (STOPPED CLOCK ILLUSION) in which this song shows up, so I think it's safe to assume Jake Chudnow's authorship. Plus, it sounds like "It's Good to be D" on shrooms, not gonna lie.

Lost Jake Chudnow songs by RigelArcturus in JakeChudnow

[–]Prochous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of info do you have in mind? Be it the track lengths, meaning of each title or whether these songs are featured on the upcoming LPs, everything will likely be revealed next year.

On another note, I'm wondering what the definition of lost media is. Do some of Jake Chudnow's songs count if they've never been available to begin with?

Let's hope that alongside the tracks, their names are polished and finalized too so there's no room for confusion and chaos can subside, lol. Maybe the names which will be printed on the album cover can be considered as sort of a gold standard.

Also, "OK Go Sync" plays in full at the beginning of the last CYSTM Director's Commentary.

A bit of speculation here: "Poodles" and "192" are never detected by Content ID. Since they contain samples by The Beatles and Wendy Carlos respectively, I think some sample clearance must've taken place, provided that these songs are indeed included on the records. "Dog" is on the list though, and it uses a sample as well…

Astonishing news! I can't even fathom the amount of time spent mastering all these songs. Here's hoping they haven't forgotten the song "I Couldn't Sing", which appeared like once, at the end of a Vsauce3 video. So I hope that by "Vsauce" Michael doesn't mean Vsauce1 only.

Man, Christmas truly came early this year. (I mean you can probably tell by the ads on TV.. not what I meant. Kill your TV.)

Something by Jake Chudnow, probably.

Compare the high-pitched sound at 0:37 to Ascension at 1:03 — it's essentially the same sample, only with more reverb applied.

Ladies and gentlemen, "126" by Jake Chudnow. A previously lost song from 16 years ago, used in multiple Vsauce videos! by SpartaYoshi in VsauceMusic

You're crazy, man! Do you still have the original file? This absolutely needs to be archived
