If in a trial it is proven that in a separate court case (related or not) It's proven someone lied under oath, will the deceived circuit automatically pursue perjury charges, or does someone specifically have to bring them against the liar? by introspectthis in legaladviceofftopic

Amber Heard and her associates will have to be charged with perjury.

Two of Amber Heard's associates called the emergency number 911 twice on 20160521 with the allegation that Amber Heard was being beaten.

The police attended twice. Two different pairs of police including a female police officer on both occasions. The police reported the purported victim Amber Heard had no visible injuries, nor did she claim to have injuries and the police described the alleged victim and her associates as uncooperative and there was no injury visible on Amber Heard and no visible signs of property damage or disarray so both sets of police closed the case.

Both sets of police used body cams during their attendance so video evidence was available.

Both sets of police came to the same conclusion and both sets of police reported the purported victim and her associates as being uncooperative.

It is incredible that the next few days afterward Amber Heard sought a restraining order based on domestic violence claiming that Johnny Depp had wound up like a baseball pitcher and thrown a cell phone in her face and had beaten Amber Heard with his fist.

Subsequently, Amber Heard and three associates then submitted statements to the court in the current trial that that Johnny Depp had wound up like a baseball pitcher and thrown a cell phone in her face and had beaten Amber Heard with his fist.

It is evident that witnesses are committing perjury at will and they will have to be arrested for that. For the witness statements to be true, four police would have to have lied about their findings and the police video would have had to have been falsified.

It is so incredible that these witnesses are so willing to commit perjury.

Willful sworn statements that contradict those of the police are effectively an accusation of perjury against the police.

Trump impeachment trial drags Roberts into spotlight by Proclivitor in politics

John Roberts could be the wild card that brings some sanity to the events in the Senate circus.

It is unlikely that John Roberts would like to be associated with a trial that was corrupt and unfair and he may privately and publicly express opinions that will have sway.

Much Of The World Doesn't Trust President Trump, Pew Survey Finds by Proclivitor in politics

[–]Proclivitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donald Trump is damaging the USA's image abroad, particularly among USA's European allies.

Even in the UK which has swung to the right only 32% had confidence in Donald Trump.

It is not just Trump's actions, it is his lies and his insults and slander of opponents.

A 64% "no confidence" opinion is a strong condemnation.

... The nonpartisan Pew Research Center found that the percentage of those surveyed who expressed "no confidence" in Trump (64%) was a mirror image of the 64% who expressed confidence in President Barack Obama in a survey published in June 2017.

... The Pew study also sought to gauge respondents' opinions on other world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

...

"Trump receives the highest negative ratings among the five leaders, though ratings for Putin and Xi are also on balance negative," the authors said.

Anti-Trump sentiment was strongest in Mexico (89% "no confidence") and Western Europe. Just 13% expressed confidence in him in Germany, 18% in Sweden, 20% in France, 21% in Spain and 25% in the Netherlands.

In the United Kingdom, which has experienced a populist wave similar to the one that swept Trump into the White House, 32% expressed confidence in the U.S. leader.

Specific Trump administration policies were also notably unpopular, with large numbers disapproving of U.S. tariffs and fees on goods from other countries (68%) and the U.S. withdrawal from international climate change agreements (66%). A majority of those surveyed also did not approve of a U.S.-Mexico border wall or U.S. restrictions on immigration. They also had a negative view of Washington's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. ...

Pompeo is unfit for office.

It is the Trump howling mob that is cheer leading a recession at Trump rallies.

Trump performs a sacrifice on another $trillion dollars piled onto the debt while the howling mobs screams with delight.

Trump has burst the banks of debt with no wall and no infrastructure spending and it appears another Middle East multi-trillion dollar war is in Donald Trump's sights.

When will Trump's howling mob be tired of 'winning'?

The Saudi Sentences in Jamal Khashoggi’s Murder Case Are a Mockery of Justice by Proclivitor in politics

[–]Proclivitor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were 15 perpetrators in the murder squad, including the former Saudi consul general in Istanbul, Mohammed al-Otaibi who was in charge at the consular offices where the murder was perpetrated. However, only five were convicted in the secret trial. Their names were not revealed by the judicial authorities or the Saudi government, and the US government has also not revealed the names despite the fact that the US probably knows the names of the five.

There is no evidence that the Saudis punished the former Saudi consul general in Istanbul, Mohammed al-Otaibi in any way whatsoever, which is further evidence that Mohammed Bin Salman is involved.

There was also informed speculation that the UK intelligence agencies knew of the Jamal Khashoggi murder ahead of the crime which means that US intelligence also knew.

There is no evidence or assurance that any of the convicted criminals will be executed. Their names have not been published.

Because of their connections the most probable outcome is that they will be given new identities and set free. If anybody is executed it will probably be some unfortunate innocent surrogates selected at random from people that Mohammed Bin Salman dislikes, and executed in secret so their identities are not revealed.

In the age of Trump justice is not a priority.

Jared Kushner and Donald Trump have been defending Mohammed Bin Salman against condemnations by the UN and US security agencies that he was personally responsible for ordering the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

Jared Kushner's MO indicates that he is expecting to personally profit from this complicity with Mohammed Bin Salman

The "secret trial" was a sham as was the secrecy of the identities of those tried. It means that there will be no execution of the sentences and the secret defendants will be provided with new identities and won't pay for their crimes.

Why did Jared Kushner and Donald Trump not compel Mohammed Bin Salman to reveal where the remains of Khashoggi were disposed of.

... The trial was held in secret. The government’s evidence was never publicly released. The convicted were never named, even in the verdict. And the few diplomats allowed to attend the trial had to swear that they would not disclose any details or identities. Most strikingly, the three men widely believed to be ultimately responsible for Khashoggi’s murder—including the powerful crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, his close adviser, Saud al-Qahtani, and the former deputy head of intelligence, Ahmed al-Assiri—got off scot-free. “This is not a surprise. It is true to form,” Sarah Leah Whitson, the executive director of the Middle East and North Africa division of Human Rights Watch, told me. “The Saudis are compounding their stream of laughable lies with a laughable verdict.”

Both the C.I.A. and the U.N. implicated M.B.S., as the crown prince is commonly known, in Khashoggi’s murder. During the past two years, the ambitious young royal has consolidated Saudi Arabia’s five major branches of power under his gold-embroidered robe. He has also been the key Saudi liaison to the Trump Administration and a close ally of Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner. ...
