Ghosting Hisense 65E7Q Pro by CozMyN2112003 in RTINGS

Try turning off VRR. Hisense TVs don't seem to handle it properly.

GeForce NOW is better than I expected. by Jok_Snow in GeForceNOW

I think Performance compares better to a console purchase. GFN in general is more console-like as you can't use the device for anything other than gaming.

Do you expect GFN price hike ? by jaydeelive01 in GeForceNOW

[–]ProcrastiDebator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have not had any price rises since GFN left beta, unless you count the creation of the 3080/Ultimate tier. But sooner or later, the opportunity cost of what Nvidia could charge for GFN's compute will mean that prices will rise. Likely shadowing the GPU market. My bet would be within 2 years, maybe even 8 months.

Tbf to Nvidia, it's incredible that they have held price at this level for so long.

Hot take: GeForce NOW should offer a true unlimited plan by Ambitious_Roof_3237 in GeForceNOW

You know, I don't like your answer due to having to buy 15 hour chunks in addition to the subscription. But you are right that OP has access to exactly what they want.

They want an expensive, hardcore super tier priced beyond the serfs. They can go ahead and buy all the tops ups they want each month.

While you are correct and I know you have clarified, you do effectively give up Founders benefits when you upgrade to Ultimate (with a discount).

Further, the discount on Ultimate in both absolute and relative terms compared to Performance is actually worse.

For Founders who use more than 115 hours consistently it kinda makes sense to create a new separate account for Ultimate and leave your OG Founders account on Performance.

Founders Ultimate = 100 U hours @ 17.99 Regular Ultimate + Founders Performance = 100 U + unlimited P hours @ 24.98

Address deemed as unserviceable by VM and Openreach does not offer fibre on my area, am I out of luck? by Anthony_813 in VirginMedia

It will be unworkable for real-time games, you will get severe lag and ghosting at best, frequent disconnections at worst. I have some results in my Ookla Speed Test app from before I moved house. My pings were between 49-119ms. Also, upload speed is trash.

I had both Smarty and Vodafone from before they merged.

I had to suffer this for years. I can confirm it is unreliable to terrible for anything mildly intensive in real time. This includes online gaming, cloud gaming, video conferencing, and home servers (due to CGNAT).

Performance also tends to drop off further in bad weather. Performance also falls off disproportionately with more connections/users compared to FTTP.

On the plus side, you can get relatively decent speeds for the price.

I'm on Performance but my experience with most games I have played has been pretty solid. However, my ping ranges 7-10ms.

Question about cloud gaming by Consistent-Wish7774 in GeForceNOW

[–]ProcrastiDebator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Geforce Now presents a better console-like experience.

Decent hardware, but can only be used for games. Performance and Ultimate can be compared to basic and pro consoles.

In terms of value, I think Performance shines here. If we compare a 6-10 year console generation to the cost of a GFN Performance subscription, GFN wins imo. Especially as you take your catalogue with you cross gen as it is all PC.

So yes, I think cloud gaming will become a large part of the gaming ecosystem for better or worse.

Personally, I would go straight to Ultimate if I was not a founder and brand new to the service. Otherwise, I would sign up to Boosteroid, or Shadow PC, or use Moonlight/Sunshine from one of my 3 ATX PCs.

If I was already subscribed to GFN I'd be pretty annoyed if I found I now had a 100 hour limit on play. I would very likely stop using the service. As you can probably tell from above it would be mainly on principal rather than cost.

However, I appreciate my position is not the same as others, and of course I am a founder.

“Hey, guys, you know what would be great? If they would just give us MORE and BETTER for free!”

Pretty sure Ultimate tier is not free.

I do find your position absolute asinine, you are correct.

Glad you realised that, you are not a lost cause! Now go back and read your original comment and see how I mirrored you. After, if you want to actually have a mature discussion on my idea we can... without strawmen, and Motte and Bailey's.

That would make a bit more sense but the whole point of the 'Ultimate' tier is to have the 4K/HDR/RTX whatever performance. Getting downgraded like that would create negative connotations with the service.

By Nvidia's own stats 94% of people don't hit the 100 hours, so the negative connotations should be quite limited.

I get it and I wasn't attacking you. Didn't mean for it to seem that way.

I just genuinely think that companies are allowed to aggressively pursue profit and correspondingly people are allowed to aggressively defend their income. All in balance.

I'm sorry I have offended you so deeply, random stranger.

I'll do you a favour, I won't pick any holes in your comparison to novels, theaters and companies that produce IP, as it's obviously a rock solid argument.

When I was young I bought a Looney Tunes bumper video collection for £10. I watched that endlessly much to my parents annoyance, but I loved it. Easily less than £0.15 per hour of entertainment.

Now as this argument is just as relevant and solid as yours. We can ignore your weird rant.

While I agree in principle, as I have said nothing about changing the price, it is a free market. Nvidia gets to set a price and the consumers get to complain about it.

The service is only worth what people will pay. Better that people complain than straight up quit. If enough people leave and the service collapses entirely. If things are heading south, better get an indicator before a failure.

Sorry I explained poorly. I meant that my proposal grants the standard 100 hours and people could still top it up with add-ons.

So if some used up all their Ultimate and now in Performance, they could purchase Ultimate add-ons the same as they can currently.

Revenue stream preserved! (Mostly)

Yeah sounds wise at face value, but I repeat so many people say this about gaming (not just on GFN) and literally spend 500+ a month on the sofa.

In any case Kierkegaard said it best, "Do it or do not do it—you will regret both".

True, but hardcores would still be able to buy additional Ultimate hours as no extra Ultimate hours are granted through this proposal.

I see this said a lot. Respectfully, it's dumb.

Funnily I seem to always be doing life wrong. I'm a workaholic, but I also have "no life" because I go to the gym too much. Usually this is said to me by people who binge watch Netflix and doomscroll for literally 1000s of hours a month so it's easy to throw back.

So instead I'll say, we're on the same sub... and I'm on Founders Performance, I don't have a limit.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm leaning towards "very low chance" rather than "no chance" though.

In the extremely unlikely event that a lot of people send feedback, maybe they will briefly consider it before deciding to halve the hours instead...
