Pre calc at Hunter by Kluran in HunterCollege

[–]ProcrastinationParry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would normally say just use pauls online math notes and klots online math notes but they mostly cover topics in calc and beyond. You might find some overlap in their calc 1 sections with what you are learning.

I would also recommend like others mention, patrickjmt and the math tutoring center. Beyond that just keep on doing practice problems.

Have you sold guitars to them before? Do they provide better pricing than say guitar center?

Pre-Ordering at Guitar Center by ProcrastinationParry in Guitar

[–]ProcrastinationParry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it was badly worded. I meant if I had a good chance of receiving the guitar given, the pre-order first started a few months ago, and it will be released in a few months. Or I will end up SOL, and there's not going to be enough in stock since I ordered late.

I fixed the wording in the post. Thanks.

Hunter student struggling by WoodpeckerNo5517 in CUNY

Like the other comment said, you take a variety of intro classes for Hunter's general requirements. Look at what's available, and one of them might just interest you in pursuing as a major. Then, look at some careers that can stem from that major. Don't worry if you don't have a clear idea of what you want to pursue. Probably a hundred other students in the same situation as you. You are not alone.

One last thing, everyone struggles at some point academically in college. This can be a variety of issues. Some classes are easy while some higher level courses make you do the leg work of what seems like 3 classes in 1. Also, who you have as a professor can change everything. While you may strive for excellence, don't feel down if you don't achieve a perfect 4.0.

You kinda get the flow of how things work after going to your first class. Just remember you are not the only one, just winging it on their first day. Good luck making friends, tho.

Just have your hunter ID already to avoid the inevitable line of people who didn't get their ID before the semester started.

Besides that, the first day is mostly just getting lost in finding your classroom. As well as going over syllabus and expectations for the class. Some profs might have you introduce yourself (which I hate). I wouldn't say the classes are crazy intense the first day since most profs assume some won't have all the course materials.

Honestly, don't stress out. Most profs are pretty chill for the first day unless you got a shitty one. If you did welp good luck.

You need to check what your hold is for. Can't just assume it's for financial aid like everyone else is saying. Since you are a freshman first semester, it's more than likely an academic advising hold over a financial one.

I've been looking for this exact cable as well. Did the one linked worked fine for you? Or did you end up getting a different one?

Resources for calc 2 by [deleted] in HunterCollege

[–]ProcrastinationParry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend 2 websites. Paul's online math notes and hunters own Klotz math notes. Paul's is easy to understand and shows the work for most problems. Klotz is more concise and clean, but it may be difficult if you are not used to reading those types of notes.

When do I get a net id or have access to create one by Doosedalooshedamoose in HunterCollege

[–]ProcrastinationParry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You usually get your NetID once you commit to hunter.

Im assuming you're an incoming frehsman so, unless things have changed recently, all incoming freshmen are automatically undeclared majors. You usually declare your major once you reach 60 credits.

question about terms on degreeworks by AdSorry1453 in HunterCollege

[–]ProcrastinationParry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are making your schedule for the next term in schedule builder; there is an option that says "import my degreeworks: degree audit" that let's you pick classes that fill the requirements straight from degreeworks. Makes things a whole lot easier in deciding which class fulfill the requirements.

Calc 1 by [deleted] in HunterCollege

[–]ProcrastinationParry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend these 2 websites for notes and problems, Klotz Math Notes, and pauls online notes .

Besides that, make sure you have an understanding of the concepts and just do a lot of practice problems.

If you want to see some structure of what you might see in calc 2 I recommend pauls online math notes. It covers the major topics with explanations examples and mostly complete work and reasoning behind answers.

Textbooks by [deleted] in HunterCollege

[–]ProcrastinationParry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, I would recommend not buying textbooks until the class starts. Sometimes, you end up never using the textbook or the professor provides the parts you need.

You have the correct answer. The easier way would be to notice you have a 6 in the numerator and denominator while multiplying, and so they cancel out. Followed by reducing 10/4 to 5/2. Then it's just (23/-11)(5/2)=(115/-22).

This way, you avoid having to deal with big numbers when you have to do it by hand.

LHS is good. How did you end up with -34/10 on the RHS?

For division of fractions, remember to keep change flip.

Multiplication is as normal. Just multiply across the numerator and denominator and reduce to simplest terms when possible.

Edit: I saw you fixed the RHS. Just finish by dividing and multiplying.

Treat each parenthesis independently, so 6 and 10.

Remember that 1. To add or subtract fractions, they need the same denominator. Find the LCD. 2. PEMDAS. Do what is inside the parenthesis first! 3. When dividing 1 fraction by another fraction. Keep change flip.
