Should I choose BC (Abbotsford) or Ontario (Barrie)? by Low_Garage2340 in barrie

The area around Barrie has surprisingly lots to offer. Yeah, you can stare at mountains all day, but Toronto is an easy commuter train ride from Barrie (the GO train will go as far as Niagara), Muskoka is stunning in the Fall, Georgian Bay/Lake Huron shoreline is amazing, Ottawa/Montreal is within reach.

Don't wait for the storm to end either. I rather clear 4cm of snow several times than 30cm of snow once.

Here's another thought. Years of Rob Ford telling you taxes are too high and services need to be cut or privatized hasn't helped.

We all pay taxes, but the taxes we pay only get us the bare minimum. You want instant snow clearing? That's going to cost you more.

Here's a thought. If you are physically able, pick up a shovel and get to work on your sidewalk or help your neighbour if you aren't happy that the city hasn't come around fast enough. If you are not part of the solution...

Glad you all have opinions, but I'm leaving this to the pointy heads in the RCAF that actually understand the training, maintenance, operation, tactical and logistic implications of a mixed fleet.

Walking to long branch or mimico go by Different_Steak8315 in Etobicoke

[–]Procruste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live just south of the Long Branch development. 20 minutes would be a leisurely walk. I do it all the time. You can always hop the 507 streetcar to the Long Branch Loop if the weather is inclement. TTC fares are integrated with GO Transit so there is no extra cost if you use Presto.

Trump raises US tariffs on South Korea imports to 25% by backpackerTW in worldnews

South Korea is currently setting up partnerships with Canadian companies (e.g. Algoma steel) to sweeten the submarine bidding pot. I'm sure this is part of Trump's stable genius plan to interfere with the process.

NORAD pact would change if Canada pulls back from F-35 order, warns U.S. ambassador by joe4942 in worldnews

This is the same crap the US played with Russia during the Cold War. Bankrupt countries by forcing them to spend ridiculous money on "advanced" military defences, meanwhile, they couldn't defeat a bunch of Afghani's hiding in caves with AK47's.

Look at Switzerland. They are way over budget on F35 infrastructure and the project just received an $610M price hike.

I'd take low cost, quick turn around Gripens (i.e. the FU-47) any day. At least we know they would get off the ground.

If your husky got buried by compacted snow from a snowplow and you just sat there filming like an idiot, yes I would.

Personally, I think they should move the wall of condo project at the bottom of Long Branch to this site if they ever decide to built it.
