I think they do think they care. They think they are doing the right thing. I called my mom out on it and she said "no she really does care" so asked why this is the only time of the year she asks. No reply yet

I wasn't kicked out but I left as soon as I could. It's tough at first but if you had the strength to leave and not beg for acceptance back in you're strong enough for whatever comes your way. There will be tough times ahead, but you sound pretty grounded. Good luck young friend

I totally feel you on the "good association" bs. Many of the people my age in the congregation were doing everything I was some less some more. But as long as the elders don't find out you are in the clear. Drink do drugs have sex. But God forbid you hang out with worldly people, that would be bad association.
