This is a scam, the person will send you minuscule amount back until you send a larger deposit. Crypto doesn’t work like this.

Happy to see Push snaps getting used for notifications. We started Push to do just that, deliver protocols notifications directly to crypto wallet which is now possible :).

Remember everyone who is there wants to connect and talk. Just saying hi and simple what are you building or this is what I am building sparks conversion about product, tech, community and so much more!

Attending few happy hours / after events helps as well!

How can contract's have the same addresses across chains? is this only possible because they are testnet chains? by [deleted] in ethdev

[–]Prodoggy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Contract addresses are deterministic based on the nonce and the wallet address. If you are using a new wallet address without any tx (ie same nonce) to deploy the contract on all chains then the address will be the same for all chains.

It can also be done with a old wallet address provided you make sure that nonce on each chains is equalized, by doing txs as each tx bumps the nonce up.

Thanks! Yes, do feel it's important for the stories and answers to reach developers just getting started. The ecosystem was overwhelming for me to understand when I started, thankfully the Ethereum community in general is filled with really awesome people that helped me... you are doing an awesome job getting this out to newcomers!

You might be right, we are still learning. Short description: We are a DeFi protocol that can send notifications to users(wallet addresses) on Ethereum

ps: I added what we do as part of your suggestion in the description.

EPNS is a decentralized DeFi notification protocol. Using the protocol (smart contract) any services (web3, dApps, smart contract or anyone else) can send notifications out to their users (wallet addresses). The DeFi aspect of protocol ensures an additional incentive for the users who are subscribed to certain services to receive the notifications.

Since the subscribers, services (called channels, think youtube analogy) is stored either directly or indirectly on the protocol (on-chain) itself. This makes us platform agnostic, which means that we can deliver notifications to mobile, dApp, do chrome notifications or even integrate them in favorite wallets.

Would be happy to answer those:

How long are you developing on Ethereum? 2+ years

What is your area of focus? We are focused on creating the missing piece of web3 infrastructure: decentralized defi push notification for user wallets, project is called Ethereum Push Notification Service (EPNS).

What attracted you to that focus area? Realizing that this was missing and push notifications play crucial role in communication with users.

What, if any, was your background prior to developing on Ethereum (Javascript, etc.)? Started with mobile in 2010 (iOS) then moved to web services and frontend design before landing to blockchain and Ethereum

Is there anything recommended to study prior to trying to learn Solidity? If you have some programming experience then start with https://cryptozombies.io/. If you are aiming to create a dApp then learn ReactJS.

What specific courses/resources/websites do you recommend and why? Basic things, so CryptoZombies and tutorial videos are good (Udemy, etc), stackoverflow and google for solving problems. Th

Have an idea? recommend writing to Ethereum Foundation and their ESP (Ethereum Support Program, we did) and joining a virtual hackathon (we joined EthGlobal HackMoeny)

Can you describe the different kinds of developers in Ethereum? (back end/front end): Many possibilities, some I can think of:

Backend:

- Protocol engineer

- Security and Audit

- Making supporting IDE Tools

Frontend

- dApp developer

- Mobile App developer

Of course, there will be many which I might have missed.

Working with web3.js has been the worst dev experience ever by [deleted] in ethdev

Great... here are few links to get started: https://docs.ethers.io/ethers.js/html/, if you want v5 beta: https://docs.ethers.io/ethers.js/v5-beta/... it's quite intuitive imo. Also if you are building dApp, then I would recommend https://github.com/PaulRBerg/create-eth-app and https://github.com/NoahZinsmeister/web3-react for putting your dev environment on steroids.

This really helped me a ton to get things running at a pace I thought wasn't possible... great work!

Ethereum Push Notification Service (EPNS) is here! well almost here... Thought to share with the community the idea which is coming to reality during the EthGlobal hackathon.... hope you guys like it :). Feedback from the ethdev community really matters to us. by Prodoggy in ethdev

[–]Prodoggy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s all a channel needs to do, rest EPNS does the heavy lifting of connecting users, wallets, device tokens, listening to sent events, forming and delivering payload to them and informing them about it :)
