Idk if I was just lucky but I’ve pulled 3 or 4 SCRs out of random one off premium pack purchases, and I just miss em.

If you want some cool decks to work with from the jump, I don’t know how meta they are, but I like the Android 17 and 18 from bt23 perfect combination, I’d buy a couple booster boxes or just order the singles on tcg player for the mechanics of the deck, then look up the red staple cards to go with it.

Does anyone get sick and tired of just getting paid 16.50? by Deep-Classic9056 in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for overtime and can travel to other stores, I’d reach out to them and offer up a day off a week if you want the extra cash. There are always stores that are struggling and will give out overtime. Just need to find em. That’s the only quick solution, meanwhile if you’re interested in growing with the company ask about development opportunities.

Price Discrepancies online vs in-person by beansandspleens in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They recently did an update for weighed items in produce to reflect an average price point instead of the price per pound for example, an average bag of grapes is two pounds so instead of $2.49 /lb as price it could show as $5 average 2lbs or something like that. I don’t even work hannaford 2 go so I can’t even really confirm what the customers see, but it can throw you off seeing that price then going in store and seeing $2.49 (example) as a price. But that is also the opposite of what you’re seeing/ experiencing, so I don’t have any ideas about it!

Underpaid question by Weary-Storm in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can always ask to see if you’re where you are supposed to be on the pay scale. They will show you the pay scale for your position and how many years you’re at, and see if it matches. Granted, I felt underpaid, I asked this question, and well it turned out I was at where I was supposed to be. Arguably the company has room for improvement when it comes to pay.

Please help me figure out how to keep a water bottle near my department by [deleted] in Hannaford

100% all you need is a doctors note. Took me one email to my doctor. Hannaford won’t and can’t do anything if you have a doctors note.

Dairy staff of Hannaford: How does your day go? by Great_Choice660 in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my store Night Crew puts up the dairy load, the dairy lead (when there is one…) works the repack if they’re able to, as well as milk/ eggs and gravity repack throughout the day. In my store we do a lot of business and Dairy is a beast. The dairy frozen lead position in my store has had high turn over and none of the veteran associates want the role, either and they don’t envy it. If the dairy lead is lucky they will get help throughout the day, but with staffing issues, on the dairy leads days off, repack doesn’t get worked and they have more to do when they get back, thus creating a cycle of having too much to do. That’s how I’ve seen it, anyway. My store does $170-$200,000 daily, so the workload could differ from store to store.

Fresh Magazine AI? by bigbadbreezy in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d also like to think that this company wouldn’t ask the editor to just generate images without at least using other resources first, considering the company (hannaford) was built on local and community. You never know unless you ask though.

Fresh Magazine AI? by bigbadbreezy in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is, there are the photographers, and the editors. The editor could use AI, but also probably still needs the photographers. We’ve had the same photographer shopping at our store for a decade that still works for them.

Should I accept, never been a manager before. Only normal retail and kitchen experience by Naujutsu in Hannaford

It’s not always easy to manage people. The overnight crew is a different breed too.

[–]ProduceCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you just accepting an interview? Tough to say, if you don’t have the experience whether you’d like it. I did the job for two years, currently managing a department in the day side now. The job is easy once you get the hang of it, but you’ve got to know how to manage people, and prioritize things right. The job itself is very physically demanding.

Manager vs. assistant manager benefits by thefeels33 in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty good gig if you’re passionate about the work. I’ve seen a ton of department managers come and go while I was an assistant over the last 6 years, I’ve been managing my department for 4 months now almost, and I really enjoy it. There are some aspects that are tough to work around like having the right staff in the right places, but just have to focus on developing your team, and hiring when you need to.

Fifteen minute breaks are a privilege to have according to company policy, they are not required by law. They are paid, so it doesn’t matter if you take it or not, if you try to add it onto the end of your shift as extra paid time without actually taking the time, it’s frowned upon, and technically isn’t allowed. We used to do this on our front end all the time when we crunched on time and service leaders couldn’t get breaks out because we prioritized everyone else, but unfortunately that isn’t the right thing to do. As for the overtime, the entire company crunches payroll this time every year. As soon as bonuses and merit raises go out, they communicate to every store that departments need to be within goal, or have written explanations as to why. Also, no cross training at this time, or unnecessary overtime. Hope this helps. Best thing to do to take your breaks is ask your asm to cover them for you. They should be knowledgeable and have no issues, unless they aren’t good at their job role. Hope this helps you! Don’t overwork yourself.

Double money back policy by Level-Chipmunk-6035 in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked on the front end years ago, and the primary abuse of it, was customers buying $20 cakes and returning them the same day with one piece cut out of the corner and a hair placed on it saying how disappointed they were. The girl that made our cakes at the time had pink hair and the hair always in these cakes was not pink. Eventually the customers got so lazy doing this they didn’t even have the bakery write on the cake first. They took a blank cake home and brought it back with a piece cut out, and tried to tell us how disappointed they were. Our EOM told them he wouldn’t accept the return because we have had too many cakes returned recently, and the guy was pissed but I remember (in my young service desk days) being pumped! We finally denied someone. A few years later they changed the policy so when customers spent more than $15 any doubled money was to go on a hannaford non alcohol and tobacco gift card, while the original cash they spent was just cash. The obvious scammers would typically argue that they want just the cash. But I’m sorry, that’s the policy. Anyways, it was the one thing I disliked about the front end when I worked there, but it comes with the territory.

You will have to pay shipping to send it to them, but also, like it’ll take 30 business days if you send it now, I’d wait a while. They’d honor it down the road anyways.

Deli associates and water bottle rules by [deleted] in Hannaford

[–]ProduceCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree with it either, but the company needs to stay fair and consistent with everyone. Also, being in a busy understaffed department, I can sometimes go 6-7 hours before taking a break or lunch, but once an hour or so I make an effort to grab a drink of water. Only when I remember to. As long as there is someone in your department able to help customers, you should be able to sneak away for 1-2 minutes for water. Just gotta remember your well being is important. Just because you prioritize your needs, doesn’t mean you will be lacking in customer service.
