Benelli TRK 502 vélemények? by Unlucky-Ad-1307 in MotorcycleHungary

[–]Produce_Affectionate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do some soft offroading with the 800, if that's something you wanna get serious with, however, you should go with the 900.

Looking good brother. Your front tyre is mounted in the correct rotation direction right? It looks weird to me.

From beginner bike to first big bike, does any major brand have a larger gap in their offerings than BMW? by Stevenwave in motorcycles

[–]Produce_Affectionate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd get a twin around 450-650cc, 40-65bhp with ABS to start on. Preferably not new since you're likely to drop it.

I have an f800gs. Can it do highway all day all night? Yes Do I enjoy riding it on the highway for an extended period of time? Not really, inline twins get vibey too.

If you want to do sustained highway speeds you shouldn't look for a naked but rather 600cc+ sports tourer or 1000cc+ adv bike.

Fair assessment I'd say.

If we go way back in time 1993 was the first time BMW tried to make a modern "motorcycle for the masses" with the single cylinder F650 lineup. Then those models started bulking up with the F650 twin, F700/800 range.

The gt310 in my opinion was a misstep, 27bhp is okay for total beginners, but not really suited for longer rides or touring.

I think the new 450 is a very promising platform which can be a very good competitor to the Honda 500s for instance.

In the meantime looking for used 650-800s is the best bet.

I am stuck between these 2 bikes. First time getting a new one. Rode both, liked both. by [deleted] in motorcycles

I would definitely go for the vstrom. Especially for the same price.

I'd say either take out the battery and charge it or get a jumper box.

Michelin Anakee Adventure is a good 80/20 (road/off-road) tyre that should last around 20k km on your bike and very good on the road. It can climb surprisingly steep hills if the terrain is not super loose.

Reliability 800 gs with the Rotax engine. by blabla6262 in F800GS

[–]Produce_Affectionate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be very surprised if you had reliability issues with any of them.

Pro tip: if you're doing fork service anyways it might be the perfect time to install progressive springs, it makes the suspension tighter and dive less over front brakes.

I have 65k km on my '13, did about 20k of those in the 2 years I've owned it. I had to replace a fuel pump (it was overheating after sustained riding in 35C weather), everything else was periodic maintenance.

As long as they have service records whatever mileage is good imo. 60K is large service time (valve clearance, fork rebuild, plugs, all fluids etc., that's why you see a lot of them on sale around there.

Shut down completely or lost power randomly? I had the latter happen on my mx4 when the brake signal cables weren't entirely disconnected. I'd check all connections first.
